I was awaken by phone's uninterrupted ringing. I grudgingly picked the receiver and said my sleepy and lazy hello.

Mom was on the other end. She was literally and excitedly screaming...I was brought back into senses...Thought, it was some sort of emergency...

The great news....we have new member in our family.

My sister delivered a healthy baby boy at around 5:45 am..Both mom and dad were extremely excited for the coming of their first grandson...(courtesy of their youngest )

Their excitement was very contagious that it also invaded me...I felt the desire and the urgency of coming home to see my nephew and my sister..only I recalled several responsibilities in my job.Maybe this weekend.

With our excitement rising to its height, I heard my mom mentioned the word, "RED"...I asked what it meant? She said, "we will call your nephew "RED"!!!

WHAT?????? She found it cute for a nickname..

Whew!!!! I hung up and picked my red sneakers that I left on the hallway last night...

I was laughing loudly...Maybe, I could pick one red booties for our Baby Red today!!!

The RED invasion is now passed to the next generation!!!

Alleluia!!!

I refused to wear my contacts because I always forgot that I got them in my eyes. I often rubbed my eyes which resulted to irritation. Afraid of turning myself blind I decided to wear glasses.

Things were okey except that there are times I forgot where I placed my binoculars. Today is the worst case of forgetting ever recorded in my life.

I almost turned the house upside down in search for my eyeglasses. I searched everywhere my bags, rooms, kitchen, bathroom and all the other nooks inside the house.I was tired, perspiring and irritated for I cant find my glasses. I cant also remember where did I place them......I kicked the chairs, thrown the books and slammed the fridge door.Nothing!!!!

To freshen up, I decided to wash my face. Lo and behold!!! when I stooped to scoop some water, my glasses fell down!!!!

Its on my eyes all those times that I was madly searching for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was literally wearing it!!!!!!!!

How come that I never saw it when it was permanently worn on my eyes??????

My attention was caught by this nice line I read on the vandalized wall of a dressing room:

THREE STAGES OF LIFE:

TEENS

You have all the time and energy but No Money.

WORKER

You have the Money and energy but no time.

OLDIES

You have all the time and Money but no more energy.

We made a U turn to the fish port on our way to the beach. Tons and tons of fishes had been hauled from different fishing vessels (big and small). We picked some tuna jaws and bellies for our dinner.Compared to other places, the prices of our sea foods were extremely cheaper and more affordable(lucky us), yet it did not stop my two friends to bargain for the cheapest prices they could possibly get.

While my two companions moved to the other part of the port to pick some more "bangus, sugpo and squid,I strolled around.

I was very amazed to the very rich bounties of the seas that were laid in front of me.The wealths of the seas that I was gazing upon were literally source of hope and life to thousands of people.

I was thinking of;

The fishermen who probe the waters for more catch, the buyers who occupied various hierarchies of fish marketing businesses ( kontratistas, kargadors, wholesalers and retailers), the canning industries which give good employment to thousands, the food processors of various fish products (chorizo, longganisa, chicharon, embutido, spring roll, tocino, dried fish, bagoong, etc)who satisfy the diet of non meat eater consumers. They all comprise the huge statistics of people with fishing as a main source of living.

They are also united with one purpose. To earn a profit that will afford everyone a LIFE.Sea is in short a source of life for thousands.Sea with its bountiful blessings is synonymous with LIFE.

I kicked the pebble on the pavement and it landed on the water. The ring effect was visible to my naked eyes. Its a very good reflection of how everything interrelates and depends with each other. From the smallest algae eaten by the fry to the giant tuna which landed on the market stalls, the chain acquiring and providing LIFE can be observed.

A thought of how wise the Creator is crossed my mind. He is indeed wise enough to create the Earth in a very good division of 3/4 ,75%, water and 1/4 ,25%, land.

It can be explained by looking into the simple analogy of fishing industry.

As I moved to the car, I kept the hope that basic education teachers could answer the mystery of that division when one smartie wonders why God created more waters than lands.

After my lunch date with a long lost friend, I went back to the reality of my routine for the day. I examined some papers for the renewal of permits. I was deeply engrossed with my work when I recalled that I did not greet Amie & Alma ( my two best friends) on this full of love day.I sent two the same sms to them and automatically got replies. Amie scolded me for forgetting her and Alma was asking our plans for the night.

I made arrangements and agreed that they would pick me up at 6:30 pm. Where were we going, I did not know yet.

They did arrive on time.

I fixed my things, carried my heavily laden bags and we cramped ourselves to Amie's little car. We went to the church to light candles (daily habit) and I greeted my nameless friends happy V-day. I stopped to have a small chat with them ( asking how was business going on)while Amie and Alma decided where to go. Our first stop was the empty resto (everybody were enjoying on their bar for the eat all you can promo)where we picked some fish, chicken and vege meals to satisfy the stomach tearing hunger. We were discussing our plans for the Friday night ( we will be going out to spend another night on the beach). Several disagreements but later we were able to settle things well. Again I was reminded to cancel some of my appointments for we will leave at exactly 5pm. I was bombarded with sermons (a.k.a reminders)because I got the most complicated scheds among the three of us.As agreed. I will be the driver until Saturday.

We then moved to another venue --- Rooftop Bar. We got a couple of drinks while gazing at the view of the city. No much words were uttered. We were simply letting time pass as if we were afraid that if we will talk we might interrupt the tinkling of the clock nearby.Suddenly, Amie turned sentimental (effect of san mig ice), I was laughing, Alma was getting mad at me...I stopped, hailed a deep breath, we embraced each other. we thank God for keeping us together and for giving us wonderful gifts through our careers, moms, friends and good health. This is what we are. There are hallow points but we dont care... We just want to live the fullness of our lives...

When I looked around, we were the only customers left (again). The bar will be closing. Its 1:30 a.m.. Its not Valentines Day anymore. Its another day yet there is no difference. We enjoy each day regardless of any occasion. We paid our bill. I got the key from Amie and started my duty as driver til Saturday...

We bid the night good bye and went home to our own abode...It was my greatest Valentines.[/I

I got a call from a long lost friend. He's in the city for the bidding of some contracts. He just remembered me when he saw the ice cream man along the street (hehehe).

He tried to dial my numbers hoping that it will ring and it did ( my numbers are the same numbers 6 years ago). I had a lunch date at my favorite cafe. Our last meeting was 5 years ago. I do not have any idea how he is doing now, all I knew is that he is doing well in his career as an engineer.

I met him at lunch. We chatted about lots of things and we barely had our foods. It was a wonderful thing to recall our college memories. We laughed when we remembered how his former gf pulled my hair on the same hotel lobby 8 years ago.I repeated his gf's lines when she confronted me and I was left with a horrible expression of shock and embarrassment. That was 8 years ago and If things would be repeated now, I am sure I would have different expression...I might end up giving her a round house kick and a double slaps on both cheeks...hehehe

It was a wonderful lunch. I did not notice much how were foods went along but I was glad to be reunited with a wonderful friend who remains the same after many years of absence and remains humble despite of his good position. Most of all, I got my V-day date.

Gladness and excitement flooded my being when I opened my eyes at around 3:55 a.m. ( Feb. 14, 0. 'Twas Valentine's Day. I first took a glance at my organizer for the things that I needed to attend for that day. I had an unexplainable excitement because I really do not knew what to expect but I had never forgotten that there were serious stuffs that I needed to do.

Its 14th, staff payday. I checked and signed the payroll, texted the in charge to pick it up on her way to the office . I was scheduled for a conference with the University president ( very serious), 9 a.m. but unluckily my watch was an hour late therefore I appeared at the office 45 mins.late from the original sched( was literally shaking).Tough day, I thought, but I was still smiling after the conference(whew!!!).

I passed by my cubicle to check if I got some mails and hoping to see a bouquet of flowers (illusion)from nowhere ( only heaven knew where) but got nothing. I left the university to see how were people going on in my own office. Day was cloudy, so I decided to walk and saved my fare. On the way, I met an old man who asked me some coins and I gladly handed him the fare that I saved with a greetings of happy V-day. He smiled and his toothless gums showed...A real sweet smile..(hehehe)

Things went well in the remediation office, and I did got three red roses and a handmade V-card from my sweet Roxanne. She is my 12 year old mentally challenged sweetheart who asks whats behind the clouds a countless times before our 1 hour session will be over!!!

Phone rung....

MY FFF TRIAL

Blogging is the sole reason why I am a regular patron of FFF. I had visited a chatroom once to ask permission from Sir Sulie on my intention of quoting one of his articles. I had been to instant messenger twice for the sake of easing my curiosity.Several invites were sent to me to join friends network (I accept most of the time) but after,No more. I don't even have any single idea who those persons are.

I am flabbergasted when I opened my page today that I got a mail from somebody who have been interrogating me about my connection to a certain man from this site. This is the second time that I receive this letter of interrogation and accusation from the same person. At first, I thought It was just a mis sent mail and I did not mind it at all. Now, I am very certain that it is intended for me.My first reaction was to ignore it but it might be better if I will express a piece of my thought so that " I have something to write here in my blog".

To "concerned person":

I do not have any idea that the person you are talking with exist somewhere in this world, his existence is not even within the least of my concerns. So calm down.

To your accusation about me fishing for big fish in this ocean...hahahahahaha!!!! I don't need to get big fish here because we got gigantic tunas around our place!!! Seriously, I don't need to become a fisherman of this shallow ocean just to find somebody to send me dollars (as what you said)in order to make a decent(????) life.I have a more decent job and my salary can always buy me more than three most decent meals in a day. You can keep all your dollars because I have enough pesos too. Okey?

Lastly, take this umbrella sister (PAYONG KAPATID) from me.

Do not choke your man if you really love him. If you got some problems better if you keep it between you. Give your bf a chance to live his life the way he used to. The fact that he committed himself to you ( I hope so) does not also follow that you will keep intervening with his own affairs and change his being to the way you wanted him to be. Avoid controlling him by playing like a K-9 sniffing on all his footprints hoping that you can find a piece of morsel to accuse him or launch a fight to anybody whom you think will snatch him from you.

You should better get a small knowledge of how a man think. When a man says yes, he mean YES but when he says no you can never do anything about it rather than to be sorry and be defeated.

Gurl,

Chill out!! Take time to smell the roses. Do not desire that your presence will take your bf out from his life but give him the fullness of his life because I am sure he can always modify the biggest room in his heart exclusively for you and for you alone...Forget the dollars they wont last. Invest in trust, it will strengthen the LOVE.

May you also grow towards maturity.

Anyway, I have time for blogging but chatting bores me all the time.

HAPPY VALENTINES

Time had passed swiftly. Five years ago these two fellas were just entrusted to me by their parents. We journeyed together in exchanging our knowledge to learn two foreign languages. I guided them in their quest to learn the Filipino and they taught me to speak Hindi.

We had so much fun and I turned to be another member of their family. I found the joy of being with them and I never felt alone in the city.I have never been forgotten in every festival, travel and celebration. We celebrated both Indian and Filipino holidays. They strengthened my vegetarian diet which was first inculcated by my Ilocana mom.

However, the goal of chasing their dreams had once again separated us. They need to go back to India to pursue their college. Separation was never been easy for us. Thanks God technology had filled the distance through regular emails, chats and weekend calls.

They are Indians but they are more than Filipinos by heart. They still speak perfect Filipino and I can still speak Hindi.Philippines is still their home and each day we are keeping our count down how many more days before April comes.

I still regularly go home to visit their mother who is already like a sister to me. Whenever I enter the gate and smell the familiar scents of curry, turmeric and cinnamon, I feel the comfort of knowing that this structure also my home. The door will open and the smile and excitement of my Indian sister assures me that I have found a family with them.

My two brothers are not anymore. I see their latest photo which speaks how they turned into a handsome men. They are also my concrete reminder that time has been passing swiftly.

Next time I wake up, it will be April!!! Off I will go to meet my two brothers at the airport.

With smile, I will put the Rakhi that I prepared on their wrists and "Namaste and Aap kaishe hum" will once again be uttered.
