Yes! You call friend
But how am I being treated
Since childhood we were together
Am I considered an adopted kin
Or perhaps your childhoof peer?

Our high school days were full of fun
We talked for hours on the phone
Exchanging notes when one is absent
Routines included library and canteen
We graduated got separated in college.

Working under pressure because of deadlines
Oftener we'd discuss solutions to_ problems
The night is always young to finish our work
Those coffee drinks lightened our burdens.
I got reassigned our communications stopped.

I got married took you as my 's god parent
My marriage failed you were there to listen
You remained a bachelor for a long time
Darned those ladies blind to your goodness
Or my guess is you've been too choosy.

Your wedding was a good delight
Finally you have a spouse to call
Within a few a sad plight
You became a widower that's too soon
We talk about our lives and exchange stories.

We have many things in common
Agree with almost all no dull moment
There was never an argument between us
Though it is not always a good day for us
What I know am comfortable with your presence.

It is said that oldies are grumpy
Or is it second nature to_ them
As they already lack security
Sooner they'd be gone?

Are truly hard-headed
Because they've been spoiled
Unattentive to_ what's being taught
With parents always busy on the go?

Will mostly forget
That they too will grow old
Hence remember to_ pay back
Gving charity acts not only gold?

Is it casual for friends
To_ care more than bloodkins
or maybe roots of relationship
Got imbedded more than its seeds?

Will the couple fall out of love
the length of time with each other
Encroached many sour segments
Freedom is clemency rather than violence?

Will death cause this fear
With mission undone
The last hours hope to catch
Our Creator and us getting patched?

Is it wrong gathering riches
For the good of business
Because work force is there
Unsustained dying in hunger?

Life is Not Fair

Most times you love too much you forget
That same will not be given back lest
You too are loved as much and as intense
In the end you realize you have to_ beg.

I've been watching stories of life
A sacrificed for the birth
Giving her all without qualms nothing in lieu
Saying it's for the even if it's not due.

For the moneyed it can mean so little
Worth a thousand for the needy without tweedle
People need not make it difficult
Compassion means a heart not an insult.

You work for you own and others' happiness
Sharing does not always mean caring limitless
Yes! You give a bet within your capability
Happy is the one receiving your empathy.

Leaving this world with mission undone
Best to_ work thinking of yesterday not tomorrow
Though the past should not drag you down
It simply means time is worthless when gone.

Why I Felt Used

You said there will be no questions
The patterns were just obvious
I kept accepting your apologies
Which only were bugging explanations.

You were loved from the purest heart
Your potentials far from what I saw
You are not a figure nor even some part
This someone who's whole who I didn't borrow.

What I hid in me were hurting
Am not believing there were red flags
The feelings I felt were blinding
Because I gave what's true without gags.

You knew am worth more than your thoughts
I also knew what's coming were surreptitious
The affection I got were seemingly bought
Your lavish attention made me pretentious.

I asked to forget what's been amiss
Still am ready to give more of what used to be
But It's nothing that i feel you miss
Where did I go wrong you can tell me.

Vaccine Day Tomorrow

I know I am grandstanding
With the bits and pieces on reported dying
Most are elders given their jabs
In the hope throughout covid they last.

With the vaccine either you win
Or lose ironic! but happens like a twin
Oh no! no age barrier is spoken of
Lately even the young have taken hold.

Of course I do not like to see someone
But will I ever see when one is taken
The moment one enters the ER
The pledge of prayers gets forever.

The healthcare people takes the rein
Into their hands you are entrusted
But you need to understand
Most have been truly exhausted.

I know this is right to live on
In HIS hands my trust in a wagon
The first day is not much a falter
Works of the antibodiess later am after.

Do i sound some note of fear
Am a senior surely with worries to_ bear
Months still need to_ pass and clear
This battle of virus versus an immunity dear.

Put up a fight
Because I am not ready to_ quit.

If I find myself right
It's okay for you to_ sigh.

The best of what is life
My struggles and strifes.

My face may not be lit
I grin seeing you trying to_ fit.

But I will not sit
Because you are ready for a trip.

Sometimes am down in spirit
So you need to_ give me a lift.

It is not my heart you hit
Ergo your courage I will meet.

I may not have riches in money_
But the many experiences I went through
Are good lessons to_ pass on to_ my

The discipline and rules of conduct
I have imposed and imparted to_ them
Have developed and molded their good characters.

While their education had started at home
They have picked up well getting into college
Seeing their mother turn nights into days.

As I have shown them my utmost love
My constant care and concern
Have well ingrained in them to do the same.

The personal memoirs that are considered tangible
Are the craftsman works I patiently created
With my bare hands skills and other faculties

I have no treasures nor gifts of gold for inheritance
As the only treasure I can give in fact have already given
Is this woman who continually nurtured them at her best.

From many sites to here
In so many names and identities
How long is the list
With all names and details
I bet even your passwords
Emails addresses you get confused
Why can't you stop
There are other things more worthwhile
You can't be omniscient nor omnipresent
Grabbing of photos scripting stories
How long will you fool everyone
Even the most sly fox get caught
You belong in another world
Full of make believes and fantasies
You are distorted and distraught
One day_ you will forget even yourself.

The pandemic times have shown people cared in their own humble ways. Many have come up with ways and means to help their neighbors, by putting up kitchen soup in the streets, preparing meal packs as giveaways to healthcare workers and the latest of which was the putting up of a "community pantry," where one avails for free, ingredients for a meal during the ..

The "community pantry" is a small market or what we in our language as, "talipapa," using stands and makeshift structures along streets, where vegetables and other kitchen staples are displayed for anyone to pick for free, to be able to feed oneself and family.

The long queues have strongly indicated that many are suffering from hunger because of no work and loss of business, due to covid 19. They come from all walks of life and line up as early as 4AM to be able to get what they can cook and serve to theit families. This was started by an individual and groups of people later on, with soft hearts and compassion to help others, without grandstanding their noble desires and deeds. As of this date many community pantries have popped up in Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The "bayanihan" spirit among Filipinos, one of its amazing traits, manifesting love for neighbor, is very much alive and never lost.

When Is It Time

To_ surrender means I give up
No more sacrifice nor martyrdom
Those were typical of the early ages
About time I stop getting headaches.

You can't win them all
Neither can you please their call
Who's to_blame but you
No one can guarantee what's true.

You are caught in their web of lies
With their simple traps and disguise
You might as well admit it's not naiveity
This lack of skill or is it ignorance of certainty

Sometimes your dream brings much belief
Or maybe there is just faith to find relief
When you are weak people take advantage
You should be smarter so no to wastage.

Go find your recipe from the internet
Just make sure you have the right ingredients
Substitution is not possible for first timers
With the right experience you beomce a winner!
