I watched the movie Lion , it was a bit boring but very moving. I felt the joy when he finally saw his mother after 25 years and felt the joy of the two mothers when they met. I also felt the sadness when he did not see his brother anymore because he already passed away.

I recently had the opportunity to see my relatives in LA and few friends. The joy of seeing them and reminiscing the good old days is priceless. We met at my mom's birthday lunch and it was an endless goodbye. We were laughing the whole time. It was a real joy to see them all. That time with my family and friends is something I will cherish forever. I am so happy to see all my elderly aunts and uncles and of course my sisters, cousins, friends and their family.

The following week we went to a hotspring resort, it was a beautiful 5 star resort. We had fun and a good time but the joy we had there is nowhere near when we had the party with friends and family. My sister happened to have a very close friend who live nearby. My sister was reluctant to contact her because she is worried that she will be disturbing her or imposing on her. With my persuasion she contacted her friend and she invited us to come over and treated us to dinner. Again we had so much joy meeting her and spending time with her, specially my sister.

My sister and her friend were both grateful that I persuaded my sister to meet her friend. When we got to her place there was a sign in front of her house that it was already sold. She just recently divorced and going back to Philippines in a week's time. All her sons have their own family and left the nest. If it wasn't for my persuasion they probably lost connection forever, but that night they got reconnected and planned to stay connected.

I shared my motto to them; If you have the chance to meet people in a place you go, meet the people first. The place will be there for a long time if not forever while on the other hand people move to different places and will not be here forever. I share the same to you. Grab the opportunity to meet people you want to meet before it is too late.

Light bulb moment.

A light bulb that flickers or is on and off will not last long.

A light bulb that is always off is useless and so is the light bulb that does not light up when you are in the dark.

A light bulb that's always on will die soon or a light bulb that is too bright or too hot is hard to endure.

A light bulb that gives the right brightness when we are in the dark , kept on only for certain amount of time and can be turned off when not necessary will last long. .

We do not want a light bulb that is too bright, too hot, too dim, constantly on and never off . We do not want it flickering.

Sometimes in the dark even dimmest of light can help us see.

A light bulb can be like an attention one can give to their partner.

We do not want too much, we do not want the absence of , we do not wan't too little. We do not want to beg for it. There will be times that we need it the most.

We want just enough attention at the right time.

Sometimes even the very small attention we get can spark some light but the question is how long will it last?

Why are our wishes do not come as fast?
Why do happiness never seem to last?
Why is it that success seem so hard to reach?
Why don't we get it that life is here to teach?

What's the hindrance to your stance?
What's stopping you to take that chance?
What's the purpose of your prose?
What is it do you propose?

Who do you want to be with you?
Who do you think is true to who?
Who will you offer your everything?
Who in trouble, you'll be calling? ?

Where will you find that happiness?
Where will you rest that loneliness?
Where will you find who is the best?
Where will you trust your heart to rest?

When will you let the healing start?
When are we never gonna part?
When will I see the flowers bloom?
When will you rid of all the gloom?

Patience is the key to all of these.
Time may be the answer, to that wish.
If you always have patience at your side.
It's easier in every step and every stride

Perseverance that's just enough.
to make you smile , to make you laugh.
Second try is not that bad.
So persevere my dearest lad.

I'm from afar but I want to be near.
I understand and feel your fear.
I have long wanted for you to be here.
Like when you were still little, my dear.

Even if distance keep us so far apart
All day and all night you're always in my heart.
If trouble comes your way and you feel all alone
You know where to find me, you know where's home.

Where is that love now?

I posted something about a new found love previously and recently someone asked me about it. I just got back and was shocked to see what had happened to it.

We all know that love needs attention in order for it to grow, develop and stay longer if not forever. In this world there are many opportunists, there are many waiting for you to leave and they will take advantage of what you have worked hard for. Take for example this soil that I prepared for my planned garden. I turned my back for several weeks, ignored it and what happened? Lo and behold , healthy weeds all over. As if they were laughing and mocking me telling me I lost my love to them. Should I give up? No way!

Same thing with people we love. We have to give constant attention, regular communication and some pampering. Not too much, too much of anything can be a poison. Like too much sun, too much water and too much fertilizer can kill our plants. Don’t leave love without communication, attention and some pampering. Without these, love can wither like a plant. There are so many temptations around, like there are many opportunistic weeds in a garden. But unlike plants humans have morals and control over temptations. Unfortunately not everyone are the same, some give in to temptation easily. If you have done everything and still not making any progress then it’s time to move on and find another love. If you really love someone, persevere, be consistent, communicate, give attention and see it prosper.

I’m giving myself another chance for this love to develop further. The difference is, if I give up on this no one will have hurt feelings. I have tried and enjoyed the experience. I do not expect or hope much from it hence I do not give much attention to it. Maybe because it’s not my one true love?

How do you show your love?

I am back from my short visit to Manila. I love travelling, meeting people , having an adventure and seeing new places. The only thing I don't like much is travelling on the plane. It is just so uncomfortable sitting for several hours. Perhaps travelling first class will be much different.

One good thing about plane travel though is that I am able to watch movies , stay focused and be able to finish it. There's one movie I watched that really touched me. It's titled "Hector and the search for happiness ," It's about the journey of Hector , a psychiatrist who went to travel to find out what make people happy. I took down notes literally because I wanted to share them to my and I like to share them with you.

These are what I noted down:

1. Making comparisons can spoil your happiness.
2. A lot of people think happiness is being richer or more important.
3. Many people only see happiness in the future.
4.Happiness can be the freedom to love...
5. Sometimes happiness is not knowing the whole story.
6. Avoiding unhappiness is not the road to happiness.
7. Does this person brings you predominantly up or down?
8.Happiness is answering your calling.
9. Happiness is feeling completely alive.
10. Happiness is knowing how to celebrate.
11. Fear impedes happiness.
12. Listening is loving.
13. Nostalgia is not what it used to be.
14. We all have the capacity to be happy.
15. We all have the right to be happy.
16. We all have the obligation to be happy.

I love the movie, it made me happy. I am a happy person. I find happiness in simple things. There are times that I am unhappy but that doesn't stop me from being happy. Being content is happiness. Happiness is not forever but there is infinite source of it.
I always say and believe happiness is a choice. It may be difficult for others but keep in mind we have the capacity, the right and the obligation to be happy. Cheers to that.

Now tell me, what makes you happy?
Do you consider yourself a happy person? If you are, show it and rub it to others it might make them happy too.

Simple things ; lesson from burnt eggs.

I was boiling some eggs last night, 6 of them to be exact. I placed them in a pot with enough water and put them on cook top. So simple. What else could be simpler than boiling eggs? Surely everyone with a right mind knows how to. When cooking a complex dish we spend more time in it and stay over watching it, making sure we have all the right ingredients, including spices. There are even steps in cooking certain dishes on when and what ingredient to add next. Unlike boiling eggs , it’s like set and done in few minutes, no need to stay and watch them. So I did boil some eggs last night and went away doing other stuff without even thinking what will happen next. It was so simple, what could go wrong, right?

Wrong , even simple things when ignored can go wrong! This incident made me realize how often we ignore simple things in our lives, in our relationships. Simple things like saying “hello” or “good morning” or asking “are you ok?’. Simple things like remembering their birthdays or sending them a message or an e-mail. We spend so much time preparing for big events like a wedding or a birthday party, then after the big event we forget about the simple things that we should be doing everyday. Over time if these simple things are ignored or forgotten can burn a relationship or burn bridges. Simple things are easy enough to do, like boiling eggs, but even if they are simple we should not take them for granted. We should keep an eye on them and consciously do them. These simple things we say or do, matter a lot. If left ignored for too long they may ruin a relationship. Just like my simple hard boiled eggs, ignored then burnt and exploded.

This is my way of saying hello and making you know I am thinking of all of you. I hope you are all okay.

Someone asked, "what is respect?" and somebody said "respect is earned." Respect is such a big word, often said but sometimes forgotten. Without looking at a dictionary what is respect to you? Respect can be a noun or a verb. To me respect is knowing that each individual has feelings, beliefs, rights and wishes that are different from mine. Accepting, honoring and understanding these differences is respect to me. Trying to influence other's beliefs in a way that hurts their feelings or intentionally hurt or shame someone is disrespectful. Forcing what you know to make the other feel inferior is disrespectful to me. Respect is not limited to human beings, it is applicable to both living and non-living things or nature. I don't agree that respect needs to be earned. I believe everybody deserves respect unless of course the individual takes it away from themselves. Respect is treating others the way we want to be treated.

Respect is sometimes used as a term for admiration which is not always the case. I may have an admiration for those who have lots of talents but will lose my respect for them if they do evil deeds, though my admiration for the talents stays. Take for example athletes who used drugs to improve their performances, yes we admire them for their talents but we lose our respect because of what they did. I will probably treat that athlete differently by not watching their games or not patronizing their endorsements. Remember Tiger Woods who was admired and adored by many? Respect was lost but still admired for his golf talents.

With regards to nature or environment we should always respect it because nature can never be disrespectful to us and no way it can defend itself.
Let's be kind and respectful to one another and to the environment. Someone who ruins the environment doesn't deserve respect. Someone who disrespect someone doesn't deserve respect. Remember respect commands respect. Respect is precious, hard to earned but easy to give. We must take care of it and give it generously to everyone , specially the deserving ones.

How do you show respect?

I have some questions for you.

When I was in high school I wanted to be a journalist, I have an inquisitive mind I guess. I am the girl you don't want to be asking you in that game of truth or dare. I can be too personal but never tactless. My inquisitiveness though doesn't end when I get the answers rather answers generate more questions. So I settled to study sciences that is back up by researches and the answers can be demonstrated or repeated to be proven true.

I have chatted with some people from here and say they would like to know more about me. Fair enough I like to know more about them too. How do you know each other? Of course by conversing, exchanging messages, asking and answering questions. There was one guy I remembered we had this 21 questions game. It is like a conversation where you ask random question that first come to your mind at the moment, without thinking and give a honest answer that first come to your mind. It was really fun but I actually have many questions I wanted to ask but I just couldn't. They are either too early to ask, irrelevant or inappropriate.

I have learned that asking questions need to be relevant , purposeful, asked at the right time, at the right tone, maybe the right place and of course the right person. Be prepared for the answer, be prepared for the questions too and don't expect everything said to be true. I am not being negative, I actually believe many things said to me, I trust easily but at the same time I don't expect anything. In doing so I avoid disappointment.

Now let me ask you few questions;

What question you should never ask a potential partner?

What is the most important thing you should ask if you want to know more about potential partner?

What was the most awkward or embarrassing question you've been asked or you ever asked?

What question do you think everybody wants to know but nobody wants to ask?

Game? Post them below.

I have much time in my hand
It seems nothing was ever done.
At times I just stay still,
have totally lost my will
To go about things to be done.
just sit instead til sun go down

Mind is very active thinking about the past
and how much time I have to last.
I have so much time I'm in no rush
Don't want my life go in a flash

I think about things I can do
and time I can spend with who?
I have no clue, I'm stuck in like a glue
Wasted time just makes me blue

Perhaps I should just sit and rest my mind
watch the clock hand go round and round.
I guess doing nothing is the best
and let time take care of the rest.

I'm at my best doing nothing
Lift up to Him my everything
I'm praying , not complaining.
I have time, time for waiting.

Complaint vs Gratitude.

I was driving one night on the way to work, on a cold winter night , it was about 5 degrees celsius. Brrr I complained, I hate cold. I also noticed I was wearing an old jacket that I have been using for almost 10 years. I said to myself time for a new one. I can complain for many more things like I should be sleeping in a warm cozy bed instead of going to work.

I turned the radio on and the host was talking about a research on the good effects of gratitude on health and general well being. There were many studies mentioned, to cut it short most of them showed good outcome for people who practiced gratitude. One research showed that those who wrote about gratitude were more optimistic and felt better about their lives. Surprisingly, they also exercised more and had fewer visits to physicians than those who focused on or complained about aggravation. .

Other studies have looked at how gratitude can improve relationships. For example, a study of couples found that individuals who took time to express gratitude for their partner not only felt more positive toward the other person but also felt more comfortable expressing concerns about their relationship.

This reminded me of a person I know who always complain about anything. I am normally a grateful person but after hearing the radio host I realize I have more to be thankful for. I can cultivate attitude of gratitude more. Gratitude is a way for people to appreciate what they have instead of always reaching for something new in the hopes it will make them happier, or thinking they can't feel satisfied until every physical and material need is met. Gratitude helps people refocus on what they have instead of what they lack.

It was a slapped on my face when while driving I saw a homeless person , wrapped in blanket pushing a trolley. I was touched and challenged by the host to change my attitude from a complaint to gratitude. One example he said, "thank you for the person singing off key behind me in the church because that means I can hear."

I have challenged myself to convert complaints to gratitude. Like thank you for this cold weather because it means I have sensation on my skin. Thank you for this old jacket because it means it was made from a very durable material to last this long.

Now I pass the challenge to you. Can you turn a complaint into a gratitude? Come on give it a go, write one down below.
