To Bizzy: Eros and Psyche (I found that my response to your blog "Myths About Love"was a bit too lengthy, so I opted to use my space instead. Hope you don't mind, you're the star of my blog today.. lol) I am particularly enthralled by the mythical Greek story of Eros and Psyche. In the story, Eros becomes Psyche's lover on the condition that she would never attempt to look at his face. He visits her only at night and for a while all goes well. But Psyche begins to ask herself, "Who is Eros?" So she lights a lamp so she could see his face. Her actions cause him to fly away and she then has to face a sequence of trials to find him again. When she finally overcomes her trials, they are reunited again - this time in a much deeper and a more meaningful relationship. This myth symbolically separates consciousness, which is Psyche, and love, which is Eros, and is reflected in the relationships we build. The face of love is not always beautiful and often times when the glaring truth comes forward, love is easily lost. It is those who are able to face their trials in their relationships that usually find true love. In as much as I love this story and its analogy, I'm not sure I agree with it. People undergo trials in their relationships simply because they aren’t compatible. We human beings like to rationalize things, to have our answers and to endlessly find meaning – of course, why not.. it’s our nature. For me, I believe that out of the 7 billion people in this word, there is at least one person out there who is compatible with me. If I get the chance to meet him, that’s a different story. I’d have to get this lazy a** out there. And the music I'm listening to as I write this blog/comment... Hand In My Pocket I'm broke but I'm happy I'm poor but I'm kind I'm short but I'm healthy, yeah I'm high but I'm grounded I'm sane but I'm overwhelmed I'm lost but I'm hopeful baby What it all comes down to Is that everything's gonna be fine fine fine 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving a high five I feel drunk but I'm sober I'm young and I'm underpaid I'm tired but I'm working, yeah I care but I'm restless I'm here but I'm really gone I'm wrong and I'm sorry baby What it all comes down to Is that everything's gonna be quite alright 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is flicking a cigarette And what it all comes down to Is that I haven't got it all figured out just yet 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is giving the peace sign I'm free but I'm focused I'm green but I'm wise I'm hard but I'm friendly baby I'm sad but I'm laughing I'm brave but I'm chickenshit I'm sick but I'm pretty baby And what it all boils down to Is that no one's really got it figured out just yet 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is playing the piano And what it all comes down to my friends Is that everything's just fine fine fine 'cause I've got one hand in my pocket And the other one is hailing a taxi cab |

Thanks Vivian I love that story too and many other mythical stories, hoping to have my own love story to write one day. It will be colorful, beautiful, full of adventure, has its trials and tribulations, perplexity and mishaps but has a happy ending. Experts say love doesn't just happen, that is a myth , so yes I agree get your booty out there and make love happen. I have previous blog about compatibility. There will always be compatibility but we have to learn to adjust to those compatibilities and learn to compliment each other to make the relationship work. Just my opinion. “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.”

Thanks Vivian I love that story too and many other mythical stories, hoping to have my own love story to write one day. It will be colorful, beautiful, full of adventure, has its trials and tribulations, perplexity and mishaps but has a happy ending.
