Maybe she knew

She left her slipper by the castle's door,
and you searched away the palace floor.
Found you had, a ragged
and not the princess you had in mind.

Of all the tales that have been told
yours was one that could not hold.
Enthralled you were by the evening spell,
but love expired upon the midnight bell.

Lest you know, oh dear prince
tales are savages, we’ve known since;
as the Atlantis, lost in deep,
or of Llorona, who wouldn’t sleep.

From Japan to San Francisco,
the love you’ve known is but a fiasco.
Paris was built with bricks and stones
and not the love of loves unknown.

The heart can see only by the naked eye,
so let live or let die!
Unless you walk away from those windowed walls,
no true love will ever roam your palace halls.

It would actually be good to be hidden a bit at this point, but sweetie I don't get my points! Where are my points??? No points??? No more love and still no points?

P.S. It's not Elizabeth. As I always say, it's "art for art's sake." I'm just the writer... It could very well be you.

I think it's more of "re-imaging" of the Cinderella story.
