Maybe she knew

She left her slipper by the castle's door,
and you searched away the palace floor.
Found you had, a ragged
and not the princess you had in mind.

Of all the tales that have been told
yours was one that could not hold.
Enthralled you were by the evening spell,
but love expired upon the midnight bell.

Lest you know, oh dear prince
tales are savages, we’ve known since;
as the Atlantis, lost in deep,
or of Llorona, who wouldn’t sleep.

From Japan to San Francisco,
the love you’ve known is but a fiasco.
Paris was built with bricks and stones
and not the love of loves unknown.
