The noble gases

The elements helium (He), neon (Ne), argon (Ar), krypton (Kr), xenon (Xe), radon (Rn), and oganesson (Og) are known as noble gases. They are very stable elements, they have complete electrons and it takes tremendous amount of energy to initiate a reaction or form a compound with them. They are called noble because of their reluctance to undergo chemical reaction like the gold and platinum. Held in high regard but hardly interacts.

I know a person who I can consider as such. He has everything in life, he has accomplished many things and has received many awards and recognition. He is held in high regards in the society. He does a lot of charity and volunteer work. Despite all that I find him too pragmatic, unromantic, passive or inert when it comes to romantic relationship. He is a man of words but not of action and of intelligence but not of romance. Who would we rather be with?

Maybe I am as inert as he that's why there's no reaction developing? The chemistry is not as I want it to be. I am stuck on friendzone but that's ok, I am not prepared to spend that amount of energy to get out of friendzone. I would rather that he makes the first move and initiate a reaction. That's what we get when we meet the noble ones, a noble ass, cold and inert. Frustrating. Should I ? Shouldn't he?

hi Bizz, Interesting anology. Maybe you should explore it a bit more. Although noble gases do not normally react with other elements to form compounds, there are some exceptions. Xe for instance may form compounds with fluoride and oxide. So if you really wish to react with your friend Xe, then be his 'flouride' or 'oxide'. If you can't be any of those two, there is obviously no chemistry between the two of you.

Hi Cosmo, so I have to change and exert a lot of effort just to bring a reaction? Nah, if he wants me then he can initiate a reaction as I am open to interaction with some condition. Thanks for the usual sensible comment or point of view.

I think sometimes little gestures like holding his arm when you walk or fixing his collar... i think these are the little gestures that lead to human "chemical reactions". You don't really need to make the first move, you just have to relax... everything follows from there.

I disagree and I rest my case about this one, he is really an inert gas, like helium that will take a balloon to heights but will not bind and just leave it eventually.
