Responsibility I read something today that inspired me to write this blog so I can share it with you. It is an article by Alex Green titled "Three words that will change your life".It is very inspiring. The author talked about the wisdom o a certain Fleet Mogull a prisoner for drug trafficking later became PhD in Psychology, priest, motivational speaker and more. It's a bit long to write all about it here so I will make it short before I bore you to bits. You can find out more details via google. Mogull believes we create everything what’s happening in our lives, good and bad. Many of us blame others or rambles about the past for our failures, I think it is easier that way , to play victim rather than saying it's my fault. Blaming ourselves is of course a negative attitude that will fail us more and the great enemy of success and happiness are negative emotions. Fear, self-pity, envy, jealousy and anger hold us back. The four root causes of these negative emotions are justification, rationalization, blaming and poor self esteem. To be happy therefore is to attack the cause from the roots and according to the article the antidote to these negative emotions are the 3 simple words: I AM RESPONSIBLE. It means you are responsible to your own thoughts, impulses, feelings and actions. You are accountable for the consequences they bring and the impact they have on others. You should take pride and honor in ownership of your actions. It creates freedom and control. It gives meaning to life. Self-reliance is the great source of personal power. We create ourselves, shape our identity and determine the course of our lives by what we are willing to take responsibility for. I think many will argue but this is only in relation to happiness and success of an individual. There are I guess exception to the rules but using that exception is also a way of rationalization, right? So we can definitely make changes in our lives and solve our problems starting with these 3 little words: I AM RESPONSIBLE , to ourselves of course. ARE YOU RESPONSIBLE? “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.” |

I mostly agree with us being responsible and answerable to our actions and their outcomes. However, I believe in co-existence. A lot of factors affect things, people and events that lead to failure. In the end, it is our "attitude" to any of these will really matter. We choose to be content, to strive more, and to be happy or miserable. Like the saying gies: " We cannot change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust the sail. ". Thanks for this inspirational blog.

It is a good read if you want to look it up, there's more to it but I have to cut it short. I have the same thoughts , like I said there are exception to the rules but as the author said if we keep on rationalizing we can't move on, we will be stuck forever. “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.”

I agree with you taking too much responsibility or accepting responsibility is bad but the article refers responsibility only to our own thoughts, impulses, feelings and actions , and their consequences and impact to others. The start is to take responsibility for our own success and happiness. “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.”
