The traffic fun Been away on holiday/business to Philippines for three weeks. A bit disappointing because I did not get to meet some people I was supposed to meet and did not get to go to places I wanted to see and did not get to do some of the things I wanted to do. But nonetheless it was generally a fruitful and meaningful trip. One of the highlights is that I was able to visit my dad's grave. It was a guilt trip for me. I was ambivalent about going because I did not visit him when he was still alive. I asked myself what's the point? Well as a christian I was able to pay him respect and prayed for him, forgave him and forgave myself. Secondly I was able to see for myself what the real situation is like in the Philippines. Yes there is more traffic, more pollution but what makes the situation worse is how you react to it. One time it took us over an hour to go from City of Dreams to Resorts World but because there were 4 of us in the taxi we just made the most of it, talking, laughing, singing, joking. The taxi driver is so mad but we were able to encouraged him to join us in making it fun despite of the traffic situation. It turned out to be a non-stop laughing in the middle of the traffic. You can't beat that. The taxi driver was even happier when we gave him 3 times as much as what his meter said. Yes we can choose to be happy whatever the situation is. Right? “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.” |

Lucky you Bizz, you had the chance to visit the Philippines. Wish I can do that soon. and right you are, we can always make good of a bad situation if we want to. We should stop sighing and complaining and do something to ease the situation. We can make anything we do interesting. I'm a senior citizen . Don't expect me to remember anything

[size4]Welcome back Bizzy! Thanks for joining us in making this bloglandia alive again. Yes, it is indeed very horrible traffic situation in Manila. That is why when we go home to the Philippines, we go straight to Cebu Mactan International Airport. My son owns a condo in Mandaluyong and according to him, at times it takes 3 hours to get there from NAIA airport.

I agree ta Jane. There is happiness in contentment and accepting reality makes it easier to be content. “Use the quotation for the occasion; do not make an occasion for the quotation.”
