Back to your arms..

Part I. Prologue

It was early in the morning, she could hear the chirping of the birds on the trees outside her window. That makes her fully awake, realizing where she is so she got up. She grab her robe, put it on briskly and find the pair of slippers scattered in the floor of her room and then she decided to go out. Careful not to wake up a single soul in the house, she manage to go out as silent as she can. Once outside, she clung unto her robe tightly. It's still cold.. no wonder it's a month of December. The grasses are still wet from the morning dew. The wind is blowing mildly as her feet bring her to a familiar place she knew so well.

She reach the hillside after passing through a large pond of waterhole where two water buffalo peacefully having their morning mud bath. It's only 5:00 in the morning, the sun is not yet visible at the back of the mountains. The rice fields is a true picturesque. It's greenish leaves and stems and the yellowish seeds colors blended perfectly as the wind gently swayed the seeds that are now heavy and her Tatay said is it due for harvest in the next week. She allowed her foot to bring her to a very special place of her younger years. It's an old big mango tree, probably 50 years old or so. To her eyes it looks tired and weary after so many years of giving them sweet juicy mangoes. She can't help a smile when she saw the makeshift table attached around the tree and of course with matching makeshift round chair, its still there albeit very old too. She could still remember the laughter as the whole family were having picnic in this haven called farm. "Oh Goodness, how I miss this place". she muttered to herself.

She climb in the chair aware of the cracking sound it makes and settled her butt to sit in the table facing the mountains. She leaned her back in the tree, she will wait until the sun comes out. She know it is the perfect spot to see the sunrise. The cold air blew strongly as she did making her hug herself tightly.

After so many years in the states she finally sit foot again where it had all begun. The same place where she once remembered being young and carefree. The place of bitter sweet memories. The place she swore she would never set foot again.. And like the river within her vision, memories of the past came rushing in, like a current of water---strong, vivid and vigorous. She let her mind drift back into the days when she first met her first love, Max...

To be continued..

Let's enjoy life by sharing it with others. xoxo
