Mirror

I had a mirror inside my bedroom, life size, once i tried to see myself how would i rate in my newly bought suit, new denim pants, new pair of expensive shoes and specs Rey Bann would envy of .With all those new amenities and pleasantness I was hoping to be looking like a Hollywood star.

Wiped clean the mirror and prepared myself to have a look at it,dirt should not be messing around the frame and needed to be spotlessly clean.I was amazed at the sight when I faced the mirror, the image that i saw was still the same ugly face, full of freckles and acne and some were just having fresh eruptions.
Got a hammer, hammered it twice, then left for the nearby store and bought a new one,was thinking the mirror I saw earlier must have some factory defects. That time i made sure i bought one commanding a higher price,I must have been a believer of that notion "The higher the price the higher the quality it will give out"
Back to my room, after installing the mirror,I made myself up a little to appear and look fresh, but to my distress when i glanced at the mirror ,it was again the same old self i was viewing at.
I stood up and placed the mirror back to its carton and went to the store where i bought it to complain about the craftsmanship and ask the owner how the mirror was fabricated.
Gladly the store owner entertained me and replaced the mirror with no extra charges.
Back again to my house,I was then becoming a little bit temperamental i had to drink a cold glass of lemonade to cool down my spirit and after finishing off the last drop I faced again the mirror, I was really disappointed that time,I saw no changes, same ugly face was the image again it projected.
I went to the wash room to clean myself thoroughly ,changed my expensive suit to my birthday attire ,fully naked and faced the mirror again then i saw myself,my real self.
I learned to realize it was really not the mirror which was defective ,it was myself,No make over,no nice trimming,no expensive clothing would change my whole image.

One will see the naked truth once he faces the mirror naked.
I hope everyone gets the message,No matter how we picture our ourselves with glossy paints, the real self is still the best.

"You look into the mirror and see truth reflected. But I think it is an illusion. For in the mirror, what is right is left, and what is left is right." ~ Dr. Han Suyin, Love Is a Many Splendored Thing

I believe what we see in the mirror is merely a reflection of what we feel about ourselves and not what we truly are. As they say, beauty is relative, even for ourselves. To call one's self as "ugly" is being cruel. If you feel ugly, there is no point in looking at the mirror, you will always get the same result no matter what you do.

I will not advise the world to "love themselves" as that maybe the hardest thing to do. But what I can tell the world is to be your own best friend, your own girlfriend/boyfriend, your own wife/husband, and do for yourself what you would do for someone you love greatly. Then maybe, what you see in that mirror will change.

There was nothing wrong with your blog. When I said, calling oneself "ugly" is being cruel, I meant you were being cruel to yourself. I'm sorry I didn't explain myself clearly. I hope this doesn't stop you from writing. I like reading this blog.
