A Place To Come Home To (Baler)

I'm not a traveler, who loves to go out of town, travel other places, walking in the forest, enjoying the view of the beaches (the people around it), and embrace others culture.

But one time my friend had planned to go out of town with me and with my other friends last November. So we chose Baler, Aurora, which is 230 kilometers northeast of Manila. The place where the late President Manuel Luis Quezon was born and the hometown of Senador Edgardo "Edong" Angara.

I have no background much of this place because it is my first time also to visit here. But, I tell you there are many fascinating folklores and legends about the origin of the name Baler.

A long the Trip

When going to Baler, it takes eight hours to reach the town. But it's worth your wait as within the trip you can partly view those high mountains, vast green fields and watching local people outside their houses. This long trip is really somewhat mind-numbing so all the way on our trip we just rested and slept.

Touching the Ground of Baler

I was so amused with the people living here. They live simple. The place is very tranquil and relaxing. How could you think of Starbucks here? A mall? Disturbing sounds of the buses, jeepneys, mixed people etc.?

Like other provinces, Baler also has its own beautiful and entertaining places that you could delight yourself on it. One that you will first to visit is their beaches. I have gone to Sabang Beach Resort. Waves here are very spectacular providing a challenge to surfers. With its nine-foot waves, there is no wonder that hundreds of surfers, foreign or local alike, head to Baler to enjoy the powerful smashing waves of the town.

Do you love walking in the forest? Then, you can visit and embrace yourself to Ermita Hill. You can see the view of the beaches and the fish port while you are on the high spot. Tall trees, the cold temperature, the silence are very soothing. The fresh air you breathed while hearing the noise of the birds seemed welcoming you. A real beauty of nature of Baler.

Our next stop was the Ditumabo Falls, locally known as the Mother Falls. I don’t know actually how Mother Falls looks like even google it. The trek is characterized by traversing through rivers, sharp mountain paths, and crystal clear water flowing and twisting over rocks and boulders. The water is on its high intensity that I hardly crossed it.

Seeing the falls are really priceless. The water is too cold. The water falls heavily that it sprinkles around. It pushes you towards in front like it doesn’t want you to go nearer. It was really fun and worth my day.

I'm lucky that I have known Baler. It interests me to travel the different places of the Philippines and appreciates me more the God's gift to us. I was able to enjoy the panoramic scenery of the other side of the universe which I never discover within myself until I witnessed the beauty of every part of the world.

You may include Baler on your vacation list. Baler has a lot to offer with you that makes your demanding journey really a worthwhile.

#I dunno how to post those photos but willing to upload if you request.

Von Voyage!
