The only true wisdom consists in knowing that you know nothing-BE HUMBLE

Be humble thou would'st attain to Wisdom. Be humbler still, when wisdom thou hast mastered-Helena Petrova Blavatsky

Be Humble
Humble is the opposite of proud. Pride is the attitude of a self-sufficient person. Humility is the attitude of a person who knows they need help. A humble person will pray a lot and follow God's instructions, instead of leaning to their own understanding.

1 CORINTHIANS 4 NKJ
7 For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you glory as if you had not received it?

Humility does not make you think you are better than anyone else.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:10 NKJ
10 But by the grace of God I am what I am . . . .

Whatever you are that is good is also by the grace of God -- not by your virtue. You did not create yourself.

2 CORINTHIANS 3:5 NKJ
5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.

if the Creator had planned to make man dependent all through his/her life then no one would be independent or self-reliant.. look what dependency has done to the good people of the Philippines bcoz they believe that God & the government will take care of them?

being humble is good per se but if it results in stupidity & lack of drive for independence from dependency on other people's hard earned money, then i vote for pride -- pride in the belief that i was born to use my God given talents to be what i can be & be a person that God & Man will be proud of.. no one can know everything but "to know nothing" is driving it to the extreme.. who created the brain that controls our bodies? the brain is like a sponge that absorbs knowledge so why would a sane person deny s/he knows something.. wouldn't that be hypocritical & a lie

Im not against being independent, coz i am, i've been doing that for years, & i did not mention anything here to not go to work & just depend on the government & God alone, we all know that our government cant help us(well i wasn't brought up thinking that way)..it's sad that most of our kababayans have that way of thinking..we have certain filipino mentalities too that i myself dont like.

We can depend on ourselves, work to support ourselves(aren't we all doing that?)but can you really say that you can live alone-apart from your family & friends? Would you be happy if you become successful but without a love one with you? Im not encouraging people to be lazy. Im only tending to remind myself & my friends that even though we are self-sufficient, we should not forget to pray & thank Him above all, offer our lives to Him by making him a guide, center of our lives. Thru Him with Him & in Him we will have a more peacefull, happy, better life(long term happiness). Sure we encounter hardships most of the time but it's normal, everone of us experiences that...im sure your familiar with the saying 'Nasa Diyos ang awa @ nasa tao ang gawa.'

You can be humble without being a wimp. Turns out there's an alternative form of humility. A humility that has nothing to do with self-deprecation, sheepish nature or even insomnia. It also turns out that the same humility comes with a sense of power–but not the sense of power that comes out of ego, pushiness or indigestion. Quite the opposite. It's the sense of, "Yes I know who I am, what I can do and what I can't. But I stand in the presence of something much larger than my little self, so much larger that there isn't any room left for any vestige of my own ego. Something before which a thousand universes are less than dust and from which all things extend. Something which is infinite, transcendent and yet pervades all things." Sensing the presence of the Infinite is kind of humbling, just like, say, standing before some incredible genius, superhero type you really admire. Only that this is Infinite. That's big. Very big.

Sensing the Infinite is also very empowering. Because you can't sense the Infinite without becoming absorbed within it. And filled with infinite power, yourself...Thanx for the comment, appreciate it God Bless

All people are different but for me it's not hypocritical & a lie, you see, what i admire the most between the characteristics of man are doing good things & not say something about it. Sure you can be proud but you don't have to brag about it everytime you did do someone a favor...being humble but not being proud is a very rare character but i know someone who has this very special quality, his not hypocrite. This person lives this way as passionately & as truthfully as he is. I always think about being hypocrital as setting double standards...a man telling a woman it's not OK for her to be out until 2 in the morning every weekend while he does it, or a parent not eating vegetables while forcing broccoli down their kid's throats....a liar, on the other hand, doesn't perpetrate their own actions as OK (whereas the hypocrite does). A liar will completely deny that the actions ever took place...that's negative, im more focused on the positive side..

There, in that space, humility and guts don't struggle with one another. There, all your faculties are united as one to fly high above any challenge, smash through the most impervious obstacle, take on the entire world without flinching. And yet, all of you is but a transparent window for the Infinite Light to shine into the world.

Like Moses, like King David, like Rabbi Eliezer and Rabbi Akiva. Transparent heroes.
