Relatives versus Virtual/Cyber Friends

I honestly, am one of those who are not very close to_ relatives because I did not grow up with them, and was seen by them only as a source of help in their daily expenditures and financial needs. Feeling genuinely loved is something I am craving/longing for, regardless of my ability to_ be a resource person. Which is why, when I joined this website, FFF, long time ago, it was such a blessing knowing and yes, meeting in person after years of cyberfriendship, very selected educated, smart, and loving people were members of this site. It tremendously gave me a feeling of community and belongingness. Isn't that ironic? For this reason, I do not look forward to_ retiring in the Philippines or even excited to_ see relatives with whom I am not mutually emotionally attached to_. I do not know if anyone here can relate.

Above picture was taken in Las Vegas sometime, in 2007. Joyce is happily married and now resides in California. We only communicate through text messages very rarely these days, but she was one of the earliest friends I met here.

And you would also know that your virtual friends are more up-to-date about you than your relatives..that is sooo ironic truly...but in my case, because I have a daughter named Sarah (who you met in Cubao when we first met), who is always chatting with me almost everyday without fault, am in constant touch with what's happening with everyone in the family...when you have no family to bond with, what usually happens is that your find comfort and solace with virtual friends who you see online everyday or present in the social media that you are both a member of..you find threm more concerned about you, which is sad indeed but not totally because you still have them...

Joyce is out of touch, have not heard from her almost for a decade now i think..but I know she is happy and stable, so I have no worries over her..send her my best regards and to hubby too..thanks!

And I am lucky to still have you around after all these years, Jane...SUch a blessing indeed. I believe, I joined FFF in 2004, so that's about 17 years or a little less for us....Joyce and I text, or shall I say, I am the one texting her once a year? or very occasionally, and sometimes, she does respond, and sometimes not...But, yes, she is happy and settled with Steve...I sure will relay your best regards to her...

I came earlier in this site which was 2003 and from then on made many friends online and offline. Yes! you are one of the many longest friend who has remained with me all through the years after meeting you.

and then came madaboutcakes, who went into exile..lol..for years but came back to be active here again in blogs as madoz..another longest friend in the making and there were others , too but who left this site but we see each other at the other field, especially theta, who is always in touch with me..

actually i have met personally one recent member from here and is good enough to give me company going around edmonton, twice or once a month..very gentleman and kind but not the kind that would lead into a romantic tie-up..good friends as it can be...then another one who is in germany and keeps in touch with me through skype...most times leaves messages, to bid me good and a happy day religiously daily..he finds our short chats a good exercise of his knowledge in the english language..just friends again...it is fortunate, that they went beyond just seeing and reading my profile..they used this blog to get in touch with me..which means they mean well and not otherwise.. so far that's my updates on virtual friends here....

thanks for saying hello to Joyce and Steve for me...

FFF used to be part of AsiaFriendFinder, and had several PI friends from there way back in 1999! I've met at most one of the original PI contacts, but many from Malaysia Taiwan and China. That reminds me, one mother I met in Taiwan is indeed from PI originally. I haven't been back to PI since 1985, Imelda was still on the scene then. After a few years the site split, and became China/Japan/Filipino Friendfinder not to mention what was then their biggest money spinner (for a short time) AdultFriendFinder. Penthouse took the whole thing over, and it has been a big money loser for at least 15 years, and is probably close to $1bn in the red by now
