WANT vs. FEAR

I am already a senior, and I am not ashamed of it. I have loved, and lost, loved again, and lost again. It took so many years to_ recover from the 2 loses..And when I opened my heart again to_a new beginning, I found that I set the standards too for every challenger to_ meet. Or maybe, I purposely put it that way, so that there will be no NEXT_again? I can still remember the pains, but my heart forgot how to_ be romantically happy anymore. And by the looks of it, it's perfectly okay. Fear of pain overtook the desire to_want to_ be in cloud 9 again. I learned to_ embrace and love my personal space. As a matter of fact, I have become so territorial even with some relatives and friends. Picky, choosy, name it! I am guilty. But, I would not exchange my present comfort to_ any fear...And so, alone, I am, a lifetime, maybe..

There was a time that there were quite a few who showed interest in me...And I actually, tried to go out a couple of times with no second date. That was it! First base was all there was..

The comfort of being alone is enough satisfaction to have in life. Moreso when you do not find the man meeting your standards. As you grow or add years to being a senior, you believe having survived it throughout you need not ask for more. It is best that way, no headaches, noone to adjust to and fit yourself into when in fits of discontentment. You only have to answer for yourself, the whole time.

I lived-in with some ex-girlfriends, had another shorter relationship yet I remain single most of the time especially with the existence of COVID19 and its variants. Happiness is a choice so therefore, I chose to be happy even alone for a while.

The reason maybe is that "you're biting more than you can chew." Some nurses have high aspirations when it comes to matrimony. They aim for the stars. They aim for someone with an "MD" after their name.

Exactly Jane! I developed a comfort zone that became more than my sanctuary. No man is an island, they say...I somehow co-existed and befriended both men and women with the same treatment....Friendship..

KUDOS TO YOU! It's your way of life that is more suitable for you. For as long as you do not purposely hurt them, you are just fine...Some relationships are not mean to last forever..

Thanks for your valuable thoughts. You are somehow right. And thank you for specifying "some nurses" and not "all.." =) I have had a meaningful relationship with an MD who is a Muslim...It was good while it lasted...No regrets...No marriage needed...He was betrothed..
