rituals
I wake to the sound of the shower running.
Your spot in our bed is losing its warmth,
And I know that it's time to greet the day.
But, I steal into the bathroom anyway.
Steam fogs up the mirrors,
As I watch you through the mosaic of glass.
I pull the door back,
And slip into the cascade of water with you;
Embracing you from behind.
You laugh,
And grab my arms, holding me back.
I kiss your neck,
Tasting a mix of soap, water, and you.
And I smile,
The hot water running down our bodies as we stand there;
Just loving each other's company and touch,
Oblivious to the passage of time.
