Get up, Baguio...

On July 16, 1990, a shocking 7.7 tremblor occurred. Many lives were lost and the City of Pines was isolated from the world for several months. I was there with my mom, two sisters, brother-in-law, my young nephews and nieces. I remember being an active member of the choir and a bit popular as associate editor, as campus journalist and as one of Benguet’s youth leaders. I still grieve the lost of a very special maiden who I just met for a couple of weeks but died on the spot when the strong earthquake came in. She was young, alive, very approachable, so beautiful, with empathy, with a heart of gold and a paragon in terms of serving our Divine Providence. She was everybody’s dream girl. Those two weeks of interaction is difficult to put into oblivion.

The city got up after such horrible circumstance in the 90s yet my heart broke again for what happened to the place I love after Toronto . Please get up the soonest, Baguio.

Sometimes I wonder why Letty died so soon. She was the very first woman who made a difference in my world who never judged me beforehand and was always in full smile each time she saw me. I miss you, girl .

This flood will not happen if most Filipinos discipline themselves where to throw their respective garbage. Basurang itinapon mo ay ibabalik sa iyo. Wake up all.

Hope to see you in heaven, my dearest Letty. I know you watch over me too and thank you for everything.
