i think this concept may also apply to friends.
there are friends who are only there for a reason, maybe a mission in our life, as it were..or vice versa..
there are friends who are there only for a season e.g. college friends who lose touch with us, after they get married, etc..
and there are friends who are there WITH us---good and bad times; listening without judging; trusting us with their secrets; giving straight no-nonsense advice; reading and tolerating one's blogs hahahaha; companions during check-up/graduation/hospitalization/heartbreak/victories etc..
yeppp they make the world a nice place after all.

She came to me, with bruised arms. She had all the proper IDs, credentials, police clearance. She wanted to rent a room in our property.
She seemed very warm and nice. But something inside me said: NO!!!
But, because she "didn't have a place to stay for the night," I simply couldn't turn her away. Compassion overrode reason. I provided a refuge.
Early next day, she was already gone. She took another boarder's cellphone and money.
But left the house key, at my door.
She could've done a lot more damage than that. A whole lot more. But perhaps she was simply in dire straits, that's why she fooled me. I don't know.
Makes a person almost regret having given help. But if people con others like that all the time, what kind of society would we turn into? Would we turn into paranoid, self-involved creatures? I sincerely hope not.
I replaced the stolen cp and cash. It was the least I could do for the traumatized boarder/victim, who's bn with us for more than a decade..
and ofcors, all the girl's credentials turned out to be bogus..
i've learned my lesson..but will be wiser in helping others, next time...i hope... lolz
