Once in a while, we stumble upon writers who are able to create a whole new world with their books of fiction. A place where the plot, the setting, the characters seem so real. I like books by several authors.
Very recently, someone gave me novels by Jude Deveraux, entitled HIGH TIDE, TEMPTATION and THE INVITATION. I've finished the first two and couldn't read fast enough. This writer is extremely FUNNY! It's the first and only time I actually laughed out loud because of a book. She's able to effectively mix in truths about life, relationships, and love with her unique sense of humor. I reach the last page hoping against hope that the story hasn't actually ended.
Can you please recommend any other author? Other good books?
I love to cook, but sometimes, when I'm too tired, I simply want to fry something quick. I used to fry processed meat, like ham, bacon, hotdogs, sausages, pre-packed stuff, coz it's quicker and easier. But preservatives are quite scary stuff. So I simply do my own marinating. For instance, with fish, I put crushed garlic, a bit of salt and vinegar, and put in a covered container in the ref. With chicken, I pre-boil chicken in a little salt and vinegar, until it dries up in its own juice, then I put the chicken in individual packs in the freezer. The freshness and flavor stay longer. And I simply fry when needed, or add more flavor later.
I stay away from pork. But I can't stay away from chocolates.
And I sincerely believe that good cooks, and good dancers, make good lovers.
God is always there for me. ALWAYS. My mom is still alive. She may be weakening. But she is still alive. No one is sick among my loved ones. Everybody's eating three meals a day. My friends accept me for who I am. Forgetfulness and all. And I have found some new friends whom I wish would stay forever. The country is relatively peaceful. It is safe to walk outside at night, as compared to other places. My little students are flourishing. And I'm thinking of rearranging my budget, yet again, so I can sponsor another child.
In ancient Rome, Julius Ceasar once had a very loyal ally and friend. His name was Brutus. But what made Brutus lose his loyalty in the end? What made him plot against Ceasar, and plunge the last knife into his former idol, to finish him off?
I think it was because of a woman, named Cleopatra. After years of battle elsewhere, Ceasar seemed to have wanted to become a King, and through Cleopatra, he would have achieved that. He went back to Rome, with her and their son, breaking his wife's heart, and losing Brutus' loyalty in the process. On the Ides of March, several Roman senators stabbed Ceasar to death.
There's a saying that behind every man's success lies a woman. Perhaps. But the same could also be true behind some spectacular failures.
