GOOD NEWS & BAD NEWS

Let me tell you first the good news I have for this day. It took me an hour and ten seconds to finish my 10K run of the “ADIDAS King of the Road,” held at SM Mall of Asia. Thousand of fun runners, and even athletic Senator Pia Cayetano and marathon king Buenavista, participated. Another good news is that we as a family love each other, even if times we have some misunderstanding. Our family also feels the joy and the happiness that my grandson has brought since he was born last July. Thank you Lord for these graces.

My bad news is that my L-300 van was again victimize by the notorious “Bukas Kotse” gang. Again because this is the second time it happened in three months. The thieves took my SAMSUNG D-600 cell phone and P300.00 pesos cash. Now, I can’t have souvenir photos of this race, not like those previous races I joined. After I filed a complain with security officer of SM Mall of Asia, they brought me back to the parking area to take pictures of the van for record purposes. I noticed that I was not the only one victimized by this “Bukas Kotse” gang. Other victim approached the security officer to complain about what had been taken from their cars. We all know that it will be impossible to recover our lost possessions, but for me it is enough to make the security of the mall aware of the negligence of their security force and need to tighten security so that these will be no future incidents of this type again.

Have you confessed your sin and accepted His forgiveness?
Are you living in grateful obedience to Him?

GOD’S GREAT LOVE

that you… may be able to comprehend… the love of Christ which passes knowledge. - Ephesians 3:17-19

God’s love for us is so deep that we have a hard time comprehending it. It reaches down to us through the darkness of this sinful world, even though we are hopelessly undeserving. The Bible says that before god created our planet, He had decided to display the depth of His love for us through His ’s death on the cross (1 Peter 1:20; Revelation 13:8 ).

In my imagination I look back over time and see the Lord raising mountains to majestic heights, cutting valleys for flowing rivers, and stretching out vast plains. I envision Him creating the mighty oceans and beautiful lakes. Then I see Him pause and reflect on the goodness of His creation. He gazes at that part of the world where His will be born, He knows that Jesus will be rejected and crucified. With a sweep of His hand He could obliterate the world and spare His from the agony of the cross. But He doesn’t.

Because of God’s love, the came to earth and was slain. On Calvary He died to pay the penalty for our sins. In John 3:16 we read, “God so love the world that He gave His only begotten , that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Oh, how great is God’s love for us! - DCE

CHAPTER 14
Man’s Last Moment

PRAY,

MY God, make me wise in my esteem for work, the pleasures, the honor and the successes of this earthy life. Let me want nothing that might separate me from You. My first interest shall be to please You, to do everything as You desire. In this way, I hope to be ready for eternity every moment of the day. Amen

THE WAY OF PURIFICATION

CONVERSION

CHAPTER 14
Man’s Last Moment

THINK,

No matter what my interest may be, or how important they may seem, when death comes, I will leave everything and go to my judgment at once. Others will take my place and assume my importance and my activities. Few people know that their death is near. Most men are surprised by the arrival of death. To those who love God, it is a cause of joy. To those who love this earthly life too much, it is a painful parting.

CHAPTER 14
Man’s Last Moment

CHRIST,
My , when your last hours arrives, you will see this earthly life in a new light. If you were neglectful and careless about My law, you will have great regret. If you lived as I desire, your heart will be full of joy.

2. The time is coming when you would like to have another day, or even one more hour, to make up for the past. Take your day and your hour now that you have time. Who can guarantee you another hour when you feel life slipping away?

3. Death may come at any time. Always be ready for it. In this way you will be free of fear or danger, no matter when, My angels calls you from this life. Live in such a way that the hour of death may bring yu joy rather than fear.

4. Never have any earthly thing too much. Place your confidence in Me and look to Me as your greatest Treasure. I am far more to you than you can even suspect. A weak soul is enslaved by its earthly desires and loves. The prayerful man gains a heavenly liberty from this life, a liberty which is not understood by worldly men.

Nearness of D e a t h

PRAY,
Lord, for those mortal sin, death is the gateway to hell, but for those in sanctifying grace, it is the pathway to Heaven. Let my greatest desire in life be to live in such a way that I can die fearlessly at any moment. Let me fear sin more than death or any other earthly harm. Amen

THE WAY OF PURIFICATION

CONVERSION

CHAPTER 13
Nearness of Death

THINK,
Why should I refuse to face facts? Will I die any sooner if I think of death? Or am I going to escape death if I never think of it. The most terrible death which can come to me is the death which will find me in mortal sin. Every other aspect of death is passing thing, but this last phase ‒ the unprovided death ‒ will hurt me forever.
Death, with all its uncertainties, is a fact. I should face facts and see what can be done about them. What can I do about death? I can live in a such a way that no matter when death comes, it will find me in sanctifying grace.

The Jabez Prayer

If only you would truly give me a blessing,
and make wider the limits of my land,
and let your hand be with me,
and keep me from evil,
so that I may not be troubled by it!

Little Prayer, Giant Prize

Jabez called on the God of Israel

9. And Jabez was honoured more than his brothers; but his mother had given him the name Jabez, saying, Because I gave birth to him with sorrow.
10: And Jabez made a prayer to the God of Israel, saying, If only you would truly give me a blessing, and make wider the limits of my land, and let your hand be with me, and keep me from evil, so that I may not be troubled by it! And God gave him his desire.
(1 Chronicles 4:9-10 )

My own starts in a kitchen with yellow counters and Texas-sized raindrops pelting the window. It was my senior year of seminary in Dallas. Durlene, my wife, and I were finding ourselves spending more and more time thinking and praying about what would come next. Where I should throw my energy, passion, and training? What did god want for us as a couple? I stood in our kitchen thinking again about the challenge I’d heard from the seminary chaplain, Dr. Richard Seume. “Want bigger vision for your life?” he had ask earlier the week. “Sign up to be a gimper for God.”

A gimper as Seume explained it, was someone who always does a little more than what’s required or expected. In the furniture business, for example gimping is putting the finishing touches on the upholstery, patiently applying the ornamental extras that are a mark of quality value.

Dr. Seume took as his text the briefest of Bible biographies. “Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers” (1 Chronicles 4:9). Jabez wanted to be more and do more for God, and ‒ as we discover by the end of verse 10 ‒ God granted him his request.

End of verse, End of Bible story Lord, I think I want to be a gimper for you, I prayed as I looked out the window at the blustery spring rain. But I was puzzled. What exzctly did Jabez do to rise above the rest? Why did God answer his prayer? I wondered. For that matter, why did God even include Jabez miniprofile in the Bible? Maybe it was the raindrops running down the windowpanes. Suddenly my thoughts ran past verse 9.

I picked up my bible and read verse 10 ‒ the prayer of Jabez. Something in his prayer would explain the mystery . It had to. Pulling a chair up to the yellow counter, I bent over my Bible, and reading the prayer over and over, I searched with all my heart for the future. God had for someone as ordinary as I.

The next morning, I prayed Jabez’s prayer word for word.

And the next.
And the next.

Thirty years later, I haven’t stopped.
If you were to ask me what sentence ‒ other than my prayer for salvation ‒ has revolutuionized my life and ministry the most, I would tell you that it was the cry of a gimper named Jabez, who still remembered not for what he did, but for what he prayed ‒ and for what happened next.

In the pages of this little book, I want to introduce you to the amazing thruths in Jabez’s prayer for blessing and prepare you to expect God’s astounding answers to it as a regular part of your life expierence.

How do I know that it will significantly impact you? Because of my experience and the testimony of hundreds of others around the world with whom I’ve shared these principles. Because, even more importantly, the Jabez prayer distills God’s powerful will for your future. Finally, because it reveals that your father longs to give you so much more than you may have ever thought to ask for.

Just ask the man who had no future.
