I read an article about a female hammerhead whale raised in captivity that amazingly bore an offspring without a male to impregnate her. When the baby whale was examined.. no male DNA was detected. It happened to a big mammal and so it seemed likely that species can evolve to the extent of procreating on its own to prevent extinction.Scientists termed it as parthenogenesis.That is what a genome can do for self preservation. This should be kind of alarming to us guys if it ever happens to humans. Imagine wives not needing their husbands to have children. Can we even call those children..our children? And the women..if they can have children on their own..for what will they need a man for? They will be like the hammerhead females..we won`t be needed. Luckily that scenario is far too remote.There are just too many of us to render the possibility of us being extinct. Not unless a major catastrophe happens our kind will proliferate the normal way. 3 Comments

Typical Friday.. Feb 15, 2008 7:10 pm 602 Views Imagine you having worked all week.. finally walking into your apartment at the end of the day aching to rest your not so perfect back.. It`s a Friday and Monday you just learned is a holiday. It will be a long week end. And Monday.. that will be an extra day to relax. And so you grab a Heineken.. sit down on your Lazy-boy and try to find out what`s on tv but as usual there`s nothing that you like You hate watching tv.. there`s never a good thing to watch when you have the time to watch.. You just finish your beer then stand up.. grab your 25 lb. pair of dumb bells and started to flex your arms spend some time on your stationary bike then some old fashioned push ups You`re done and so you take a shower.. But it is already Valentine`s Day and still I can not come up with something. I`ve strained so hard because I don`t want to send you something that you don`t deserve. I love you so much to do that. Will you go that extra mile for the one you love? Will you be there for her whenever she needs you? And will you do what it takes to make her happy? But what if what she need is just too much for you? What if you can not give enough to help her out ? Does that mean that you love her less? You know that the feeling is there..it never left you you love her so much.. but does that really matter? It hurts to feel so helpless.. not being able to do more. Is it enough that you are there? Can you bear seeing her pain..her suffering? But still all she want is for you to be there.. To hear your voice.. and feel your presence So she can close her eyes as if to ease her pains. 7 Comments

The Spirit of giving.. Feb 7, 2008 9:25 pm 535 Views It is only when you give up yourself that you truly give. For really it is not what or how much you give but how you did the giving. You truly give if you are doing it with the desire to please or to help.. and you`re not expecting anything in return . It is giving up something you also need but still give because you think that the other person need it more. Nothing can be too much in giving if you have the heart..a good heart. It is just sad that not so many think like that anymore. There are those who just don`t care.. justified if they really don`t have anything to give. But there are those who have the means but who just have cold hearts and who just don`t want to give. Do you want to be called selfish? Do you want to be hated or loved? I guess all of us want to be loved.. For what really are our possessions? They are merely the things we keep.. us thinking that we`ll need them tomorrow. But tomorrow? What shall tomorrow bring to the overprudent dog burying bones on the chapless sand? He`ll be digging all around for those bones and won`t be able to find it. Life is brief so live it well. And us being crazy enough to cling to the hope that somehow..someway we can bring back the old flame in the other one`s heart? Sad but most of the time no matter how we try it is just an exercise in futility.We can be hurt..deeply.. but then again..we need to move on. There are those who loved so much that when it ended it`s as if they died. Acting as if a part of them is taken away that they can not live without..affecting them so much that the world seem to tumble down around them. And they say that they will never love again.They refuse to believe that there can be another person who can fill in the void that they now have. Our hearts can be broken but it can be mended.It is only up to us to take the first step. And we can..if we learn to view that light at the end of the tunnel as a glimmer of hope and not as another incoming freight train to wreck us again. So we ought to give ourselves a chance..a second chance..maybe a third ..until it dawn on us that it can be done..that ultimately that day will come when we again can smile in happiness. 4 Comments
