The Easy-Bake Oven Death Star

Death Star, oh Death Star, you will soon feel a chill.
When Luke delivers a torpedo enema into your whiskey still.

Charging about are stormtroopers in drunken disgrace,
And Princess Leia with Luke's hair stuffed in her face.

Out in cold space, the pair of dweebs dived with an absence of style,
Down a trash chute into the lamest of places, the stormtrooper's garbage pile.

Stormtroopers did fire their lasers like mad, yet they miss not once, but every damn time.
Drunk off their cans, they popped open a Corona, and put in twist - a twist of lime.

The chasm Leia crossed, by swinging on a twisted-pair vine, something an Imperial IT worker called a network cable.
And then she swore at some drunk stormtrooper - before trying to drink the poor sot under the table!

At the center of the Death Star, the reason they fought,
Was a generator time bomb designed by some brain-dead astronaut.

Death Star, oh Death Star, why did you die?
Now you're nothing but rubble to scratch the Hubble's glass eye!

Kinda anticipating the sequel to Twilight New Moon. This vampire movie is very tame compared to the rest and the usual movies I tend to enjoy watching. Come on, it features a family of vegetarian vampires. Since when did vampires go vegetarian? Well you get the gist; I don't normally watch horror movies which go against their bloodthirsty nature.

My engaged buddy at work invited me to go along with his friends and fiancée to its preview showing tonight at midnight. I declined and replied I'll find another way of watching it without spending money to go the cinema. I reserve spending tickets on other movies I'm looking forward to. Besides my bf hates Twilight with a passion... Crazy mad. Don't blame him. He wouldn't want to watch it, if he does, he'll only do it for me and will grumble about it loads later. On the other hand, I've no lame girly excuse, except that the characters are likeable and never mind the plot. What plot? eheheh peace to the Twilight fans.

Was about to post a part of Mr. Spin Cycle’s writing in the humour section related to Twilight, but I chose this Star wars poem instead. This short poem is easier to digest and can be understood even when it's taken out of context unlike the Twilight related long article that was written in relation to the writers on the other site who kept posting an overdosed amount of Twilight related articles.

A few of you may have gathered by now, Mr. SpinCycle is well and truly an aspiring writer of short stories of any kinds of genres from mystery to fantasy genre with his unique mix of humour. I especially enjoy his quirky humour coz I can relate.

Unlike him who's full of creative thoughts and very vivid imagination, I only like to write and I write when I’m in the mood to write.

He invited friends and anyone who is interested to review his writings. I'm still considering it and wondering if I've time to read them and how will I go about reviewing his work.

In Mr. SP's words, I'm like P.T. Barnum in that aspect, PR of any type brings one into the public eye. He even considered it good PR when a competitor falsely attributed him with saying "There's a sucker born every minute".

Been searching for this pic for a while because I remember how much it meant to you. Found it by chance this week.

Ask

Shyness is nice, and
Shyness can stop you
From doing all the things in life
That you’d like to

So, if there’s something you’d like to try
If there’s something you’d like to try
Ask me - I won’t say "no" - how could I ?

Coyness is nice, and
Coyness can stop you
From doing all the things in
Life that you want to

Spending warm summer days indoors
Writing frightening verse
To a buck-toothed girl in Luxembourg

Ask me, ask me, ask me

Because if it’s not love
Then it’s the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb
That will bring us together

Nature is a language - can’t you read ?
Nature is a language - can anybody read ?

So ... ask me, ask me, ask me
Ask me, ask me, ask me

If it’s not love
Then it’s the bomb
Then it’s the bomb
That will bring us together

Your first_____words, laugh, kiss, hug, shoes, clothes, toy, love, partner, book, house, car....???

I don't remember that far back when it comes to myself as a baby and don't have many vivid details as a toddler. However, it's fun to watch my younger siblings and godson say their first words, seeing them walk for the first time, sitting their first exam, coaxing them to go to school etc. I always look to them for inspiration to remind me what it's like to be a child. Everything is new and fascinating, our whole innocence is still intact and we're in awe of the world.

Fancy a cup? Nov 15, 2009 9:28 am

Wet and wintery white season is near.
Our discussions are going from hot to cold.

Tips on staying warm in this cold weather:

Soup and hot drinks- Hot soups and cuppa tay on my hands are my best friends. I don't understand why people eat cold soup anyway and many Brits hate the idea of cold tea.

Before you venture too far, check the weather forecast. Weather forecasts aren't always accurate, but you get the picture.

Fashion isn't something I'm too bothered with anyway, so it's important to think practically for the weather without worrying about sacrificing your fashion sense. Wear layers of clothes from thermals to zip-up jackets, jumpers and long thick coats. Accessorize with hats, gloves and stupid looking hats, long socks or leg warmers, I wear knee-high socks, if I'm desperate to keep warm, I double socks with tights. eheheh

Find someone to give you a hug, a kiss and snuggle with you in bed.

"Silence is golden, ......" Nov 15, 2009 7:28 am

I'll do this next time when I encounter the same situation for more than the 3rd time.

In the U.K. 1 minute or 2 mins of silence are observed to pay respect for the dead and the bereaved on the 11th hour of 11th day of November, the main observance is on the 2nd Sunday of Nov, Remembrance Sunday.

There are many soldiers who choose to be brave and die for a cause they believe is a justified cause and I commend them for this. Whilst others, who initially believed and became increasingly disillusioned with the cause, fought and died with their poems depicting the futility of war such as Wilfred Owen.

A soldier's lost love

He knows love
He grows weary of loss
Once green eye, now tainted with red
Death awakens him with every sleeping breath
Thick iron shields the boy inside
Wanting hoping praying for release
Wanting hoping praying for reunion
But knowing his time is short
This boy, this man, this soldier
Your friend, his warmth, his love, his touch, will wait for you in another life

By Chris, a soldier serving in Afghanistan.
Taken from contemporary poems written by soldiers of a current war.

In love and war, war doesn't have to occur in the most violent surroundings. War can happen anywhere with couples and children bickering at home, when neighbours are rivals within communities, when consumers and producers are battling each other in shops and even here when one has a battle of twits against another.

War itself can happen within ourselves when we wrestle with our identities, fighting with what our mind dictates and what our hearts feels. Heart and human urges can at times overpower our most sensible reasons. Despite hearing and knowing the best advice we would disregard this advice in order to live out what we want rather than what we need. Therefore, seek your counsel wisely. What you want will happen when you least expect it.

I savoured the moments of peace and quiet we had at work, when those who often irritate others are off for the week. Everyone is more relaxed and happy working.

May you find peace from within and pray for peace for others. Finding peace throughout the world is very difficult to achieve. Peace elsewhere---yes.

What's the attraction? Nov 13, 2009 7:56 am

According to an American research I read this week, single women prefer men who are spoken for and like to chase them because these men who are attached and spoken for have been tried and tested or "screened" by their partner as a satisfactory mate.

...Makes sense.

Does the same reasoning apply for single guys who chase after women who are spoken for?

Ate Elsa made a point about couples having a big age gap is becoming more widely acceptable at least in the western part of the world and how young partners may be viewed more as trophies.

Furthermore, an enlightening comment was made by an older man how a young partner would help rejuvenate his life that he missed out from when he was younger. Besides a younger woman means she's at the peak of her child bearing years.

Is it really up to us to say if this is right or wrong as long as both adult persons consent to it and they're happy?

Again, this isn't based only on my thoughts and views, but things I've read and from the experiences and thoughts too from people I've become acquainted with.

...for my long-time advisor who has provided me with an outsider's perspective and to the person who has been asking for advice.

The first time I played cupid, it was a random choice to people I hardly knew especially the guy. No idea whether they're still together. They disappeared.

But this time around, I care for what may happen to them both because I've spent time getting to know them both.
I hope at least they'll have a chat for a little while and then meet in person and say hi.

I'm resigning out of giving advice in public and will carry on in private to friends who asked.

Girl friends used to pressurise me to go on dates because they didn't want to leave me out and feel like a gooseberry in between friends who are in relationships.
Didn't really bother me whether I was in a relationship or not. If and when it happened I'll be happy, if it doesn't happen well I'll still be happy and continue with life as it comes. I was in no rush.

The 3rd time I was asked to go on a blind date, a friend reassured me she would come along as a chaperone to make me feel at ease. I really wanted her to come, but she didn't, she stayed with her bf instead at the last minute and I was left on my own with my blind date. My girl friend and I had a bit to drink before we left the house, hoping it would make me feel at ease. The night didn't go smoothly, but it was a memorable experience, more for the wrong reasons.

This is why I don't like giving advice to people about dating because I did silly things during dates such as leaving my date waiting on their own in a restaurant for at least half an hour talking to my guy best friend on the toilet and giving him updates of how I'm starting to bore my older date and I'm getting bored of the date.

To cupid, watch out for Psyche.
Fingers crossed, hope this doesn't turn out to be a bad idea.
To the rest of the couples, keep the faith and love.

As tempting as it is to write countless of blogs that suddenly pop in my head like there's no tomorrow. I always try to hold back and try to slow down about what I write and slow down in what I do in real life everyday because I value having a good long rest and a peace of mind like anybody else.

Please excuse any misunderstandings in my post or comments.

I realise I come across as very strong minded person at times. I've my reasons and those reasons would at times go back to my upbringing and how much crap goes on in my family/ relatives' life. I've been close to lifting the lid on people, but I've restrained many times over the years. I guess it's the norm for dysfunctional families.

I'm not complaining about it, in fact it has helped me so much in comprehending how odd people really are in too many ways and made me appreciate where each person is coming from no matter how unsavoury s/he maybe. Those whom I allow to get real close are people who have a good character because I've had enough of seedy kinds.

It's hard when I'm not the kind of person who takes any pleasure on turning a blind eye on injustice anywhere. I'm very grateful though of how it shaped me as the person that I am today. For better or worst.

However, I really mean no harm and wish no ill for anyone even though at times, it's tempting to tell someone to shut up for their own good and tell myself to zip it too here and in the real world. Well I've said it, but not as blunt as shut up most of the time. I say chill out or calm down or stop doing certain things.

I've felt a need to respond to comprehend what was said by someone else the other day. It was an interesting comment. I’m wondering about people’s intentions, purposes, what they wish to achieve and how.

Was about to respond to a friend's query about how my week went. In short, it was pretty good and enjoyable. It's a little time consuming to fill in the small details of weekly life and perhaps it's better left unsaid until perhaps I bring it up in a future topic.

I've to remind myself how my bf is very protective of himself and how my mom and bf are the most protective of me.

Bed time, good night for now peeps.

Advice please for men Nov 5, 2009 3:14 pm

It might help to have a specific list of the woman you're looking for. If you don't sit down and give it a deep thought, how else are you going to know what you're ready to put up with or what you won't tolerate in a relationship until you do this??
If you want, use your blog and invite women to meet you in person.

To begin with, single guys need to go on a date, several dates in fact before you can develop any relationship with a woman. Date one woman at a time if you can help it.

Unless you can go on a speed date where you get to meet different women and you pick a selected few out of the bunch and go on a date at different times with each woman. After each woman decides whether they want more future dates, choose who you'd like to be with more after at least a few dates. Don't mess around with anyone's heart. You'll only cause trouble for yourself and it isn't right to do it especially if you're wishing a mate for life. You aren't going to have one nor keep a woman until you get your act together and treat a woman right.

During dates, don't be easily fooled by how she physically looks whether she's sexy or pretty. You know how shallow this is. Eye candy sure, but think about how much easier it might be for her to sweet talk you and fool you to part with your money or anything else for this matter. But of course if she happens to be good looking and other things too that you like then it's a huge bonus.

Be sure she's single first and she's searching for the same type of relationship as what you're looking for eg. serious relationship that you hope will last long enough to consider her as a potential wife.

If you date a woman who isn't single, you'll only find yourself in a heap of trouble. She could only want you for your money, she'll empty your pockets as a way out of her personal or her family problems or both, if you allow this to happen and tolerate it; her problems will eventually follow her and cause havoc in your life.

Thus, use common sense and be street smart about anyone you meet.

Once you know she's single, be yourself by not trying too hard to impress her, don't make anything up that you are not and don't come on too strong too soon like be vulgar.

___------Blank until further notice.

Don't give any money away more than necessary. I mean don't be giving any money if she asks you upfront about it for eg. she wants money to buy something for herself and her family. That's crazy, you should be the one offering her gifts that you're fully and ready pay for and she shouldn't be asking and using your money to buy things for herself. Only offer to pay your dates together. You aren't obliged to pay for much more.

Be a genuine and sincere gentleman. Being a gentleman involves not bossing her around and controlling her like a puppet and don't be inappropriately physically aggressive. Besides if you are like this, you're better staying away from being in a relationship until you've learned to control your problem. Please treat her as a lady.

When you've established good communication, try to earn her trust by not lying to her about your feelings or anything else. If you don't feel the same way about her, don't pretend to like her any more than a friend.

When and if you've decided to be with one particular woman, set your eyes only on her and treat her special like she's the only woman for you in this world. It is off putting when a woman knows that a man's eyes keeps lingering somewhere else to other women around the room. Try to control your manly instinct or urges to do so. Don't only do this, while you're with her, try to do it more often that it becomes a natural thing for you to everyday. Besides once and if you do fall in love, you shouldn't have to keep looking and lusting after other women when she's the special woman for you.

You don't even have to fall in love, if you really care for her, you’ll avoid hurting her feelings.

You're welcome to add, scrutinize or offer another opinion on this.

Reminded of a fun song that my old mentor was singing.
A nice distraction on my night in from the latest drama in our not so straight forward family/relatives' life.

My usual...an alternative version.

My boy Lollipop, you made my heart go giddy up.
You are as sour as a chippy drowned in vinegar, you're my sugar dandy, not daddy.
Ha, ho my boy Lollipop,
I doubt you'll ever leave me,
Because I'd have to be very naughty to do so,

He told me so,
I love ya, I'll grin at cha, I rub ya so hot,
That I want ya to know,
I miss ya, I'll bare hug ya bear[...brr cold], I kiss ya so,
And I'll never let you go,

You set my world on fire, you are my one desire.

Wanna sweetie ?
