He is the right person to turn to where you can tell your innermost thoughts without worrying that everybody else will hear them, too. He is someone whom you can recall the good times of many years back and still extends a helping hand to lighten your load. True friendship is an elusive thing that will thrive only in the atmosphere of love, trust, faith and respect. But it takes time and a lot of sweat, tears and blood to find real comradeship and it requires hour of precision work, polishing and cutting, to make it glitter and sparkle. Yet, it is difficult to remember how many of these authentic friendships really withstood the test of time. It is quite true and revealing that it is easier to get over a failed romance than over the loss of a loving, special best-friend relationship. Losing a dear friend is more painful and more horrifying than losing a lover or a relative because your dear friend's place in your heart and in your life could never be filled nor be replaced by another. It is far more tragic, more difficult to find a special someone, a best person with whom you could get highly involve and share a closeness that is neither physical nor possessive. A genuine friend is like a silver thread woven in the fabrics of your life. He comprehends your side of things and still believes in you when the going gets rough. He serves as your safety net and a crowning grace in mere tribulations. He does not take advantage of any given situation and is a pearl of great value who is always unafraid to stand by you. His memoirs will not be put into oblivion and is your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. He says the best about you when everybody else is spreading the worst maligning yourself with teeming lies and ridicules. He shows up when you really need him, no matter how busy he is. He maybe out of sight and afar because of job and some extra-curricular undertakings but you are never out of his mind and of his heart. John 15:13 of the Holy Scriptures says: "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."
