Wala lang singing lang kasi umulan na dito
Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm, I know! It's been comin' for sometime. When it's over so they say It'll rain on a sunny day, I know! Shining down like water!
I wanna know: have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know: have you ever seen the rain Comin' down on a sunny day
Yesterday and days before Sun is cold and rain is hot, I know! Been that way for all my time. Till forever on it goes Thru the circle fast and slow, I know It can't stop I wonder!
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain Comin' down on a sunny day?
YEAHHHHH!
I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain? I wanna know, have you ever seen the rain Comin' down on a sunny day?

Kuwait is king when it comes to Turkish coffee. I've fallen in love with Arabic coffee and even have the occasional DXN Lingzhi coffee. Breakfast isn't just an early morning repast but an experience to look forward to, a reason to leap out of bed just as the sun is rising. Finding a great breakfast in Kuwait, however, with egg omelets, fried egg sandwiches, pancakes that's all i need in the morning.

10 rules to survive in Kuwait's public sector Published Date: October 17, 2008 By Meshary Alruwaih, Staff columnist
Working in the public sector in Kuwait is a very harsh experience, especially if you come from a decent environment where you have been taught good manners and hard work since childhood. To survive in a Kuwaiti governmental department, you have to throw away many of those dear manners and assume the role of a typical Kuwaiti public sector employee. Through my five years in one of those sectors, I have learned many tricks to survive. I have summarized them in the form of 10 rules; allow me to share them wit h you here:
1) Don't dress in suits or formal shirt and pants; a dishdasha is your only hope of being recognized and respected. No matter how decent you are, if you aren't dressed in a dishdasha you are a target for disrespect and sarcasm.
2) Be as sociable as possible. In government departments, it's not about how qualified you are for the job, it's about the short and long chats carried on with everyone in the department, especially with your superiors. Hypocrisy and ratting on your colleagues will spice things up.
3) Do not spend much time trying to gain knowledge or skills to get better at what you do - qualifications are almost irrelevant. To prove it, let me share this short story with you: In a department responsible for conducting Kuwait's economic relations, a researcher who has been working there for six years asked his colleagues what GCC stands for! As I write this article, this person is representing Kuwait in negotiating an Agreement for Economic and Technical Cooperation with Uzbekistan!
4) English is a valuable commodity. Speaking good English can make up for some of the lost respect you would suffer from not dressing in a dishdasha. But if you are dressed in a dishdasha, you don't have to worry about your English or anything else, simply because you are a typical Kuwaiti. The good news is that, no matter how bad your English is, you'll still be sent to represent Kuwait in negotiating Free Trade Agreements. Let's just say that only one or two of the Kuwaiti teams (usually consisting of 10 'negotiators')responsible for negotiating Free Trade Agreements with EU, China, and India, would pass the 500 mark in a TOEFL Test!
5) Do not attempt to show your superiors that you are qualified, creative, or simply good at what you do. They will start seeing you as a threat more than a source of assistance. If your superior says that the capital of Turkey is Istanbul, nod along. Correcting their mistakes is suicidal.
6) Be prepared to be shouted at and humiliated. Some managers and heads of departments actually believe that they own the place and even own the employees. But here I'd recommend striking back, you are a public sector employee...they can't fire you.
7) Make sure you have a number of schemes to waste time; eight hours a day doing nothing can be depressing. Some play games on their PCs (Travian being the most popular), others watch porn and a few read books.
When it's Athan Al-Thohr, jump from your seat and go pray. It's another way to gain respect and a good reputation. Lie, gossip, and cheat as much as you want, but when it's time for Al-Thohr prayers - go pray.
9) Get wasta through some hotshot cousin and let it be known to all in the department. This plus number rule four will definitely make up for rule number one.
10) Get out, find another job, don't spend your whole life doing this!
Of course, not all government departments are the same, but many bear a resemblance to the above. You can tell that I have negative feelings towards my workplace and maybe that is what provoked me to write this article. It is a kind of revenge or an attempt to get back at those who have severely lowered the quality of the first eight hours of my everyday life. But I'm hoping that at some level, my words express the concerns about the 80 percent of the Kuwaiti labor force who are public sector employees. A concern that the majority of my people are happily imprisoned in a work environment where laziness, immorality, and recklessness constitute their roles and define their interactions. I'm hoping that I'm not just ratting on the whole department, but even if this were the case I wouldn't be any different to the rest of them!
