Kuwaiti court yesterday sentenced to death a Filipina maid" May Membrini" after she was convicted of killing her Kuwaiti employer's seven-year-old son by slitting his throat.
She was accused of killing the boy last January, slitting his 11-year-old brother's throat as well and stabbing his 17-year-old sister. Afterwards she allegedly jumped from the second storey of her employer's home. A police source said at the time that Membrini - who had been in Kuwait for six months - had quarrelled with her employers.
The death sentence will automatically be appealed under Kuwaiti law. Death sentences in the state are carried out by hanging and they must be signed by the HH the Amir to be implemented.

racism story in Kwt........

Filipino expatriates who claimed to have experienced racism from Arabs and even from other Asian nationals.
While I was at a coffee shop with my Filipino friend, a few Arab waiters told us that I happened to occupy their guest's regular seat. I inquired if they bought the place because if that was so, I would relinquish the seat immediately. Finally, we had to back down when this Arab prejudiced manager told us to give up the seat in order to avoid any further trouble. We finally gave in to his request because I felt more civilized than them," said the Filipino.
Another Filipino man admitted to feeling discriminated when an Indian national was promoted a managerial post even though he was much more qualified for the position. "My colleague knows about my ability. I not only have the ability to manage, but I also have a degree to make sure of the success of that said position. But my employer chose another Indian person instead of me and I felt really offended. It happened several times before and then I finally left that company," the man added.
A totally annoyed Filipino commented, "You can see and feel discrimination every day in government agencies. If you are an expatriate, you just have to follow orders and you don't have any right to complain. That's what I feel in so many ministries here, we have to follow their rules and stand in line while locals will always use their influence to show us that they are more superior and above the law.
Filipinos, just like other nationalities, feel that they are equal to other nationalities and will not stand to be told otherwise. "If other nationals look down on us, we feel bad and offended. Also, if we are ever discriminated and looked down upon, we will fight back to maintain our integrity and show that we are the same and maybe even better than the person looking down on us," explained a Filipino chemical engineer. -Ben Garcia-

"Our outlook on life depends on the way you look at things. What others may think as riches, others may want. The most important things in life are your friends, family, health, good humor and a positive attitude towards life. If you have these then you have everything....

The true test in life does not occur when all is going well. The true test takes place when we are faced with challenges. Some people have a positive attitude towards life only when all is well. However, when the going gets tough, their attitude changes instantly, and they become very negative or are consumed with self pity." -Catherine P.-

peace begin at home

It is easy to love those who are far away. It isn’t always easy to love those who are right next to us. It is easier to offer food to the hungry than to answer the lonely suffering of someone who lacks love right in one own family.
The world today is upside down because there is so very little love in the home , and in family life . We have no time for each other. Everybody is in such a terrible rush, and so anxious?and in the home begins the disruption of the peace of the world.

On My Way Home

Mysterious shadows everywhere Trying to offer you the helping hand force you to determine what to share Want to lead you to the forbidden land
The bottom I've lost under my feet I wish to substitute as far as the wind The farewell I write down on a blank sheet Reminds me the world I do live in
I am on my way to find my home Where I can be for me myself divine I know this journey will last forever The fortune lays down: blood and vine
It's up to me to choose the gift I look around but nobody's there Denial behaviour an expected drift I feel my heart and soul to those I swear:
I solemnly swear to continue my way I'll never look back until I found the secret of fire I cant stop diving into the sea The beauty and the beast in me I admire.

Men are as chatty as women

Men are just as chatty as women, according to scientists.
Researchers bugged 400 students to log their chats and found little difference in word count between the sexes.
The University of Arizona study, published in Science, conflicts with previous US research suggesting women talk almost three times as much as men.
Whether someone was an introvert or an extrovert was more important, said relationship experts.
In the study, women spoke a daily average of 16,215 words during their waking hours, and men 15,669 words.
Lead researcher Matthias Mehl said: "What's a 500-word difference, compared to the 45,000-word difference between the most and the least talkative persons?"
The most talkative man in the study used 47,000 words while the least used a little more than 500 over a few days.
Relate spokeswoman Paula Hall, a relationship psychotherapist, said the findings matched her experience.
"It's not fair to say men don't talk. Blokes in the pub don't stand around in silence," she said.
"The problem is not how much people talk or don't talk, the problem is how well people listen."

Employees at the American Embassy in Kuwait on Monday panicked when they received a parcel containing white powder. Securitymen posted at the South Gate of the Embassy found the white powder when they opened the package. Suspecting that the powder was explosive in nature, they immediately took the necessary steps and informed the Kuwaiti authorities. In a telephone conversation with the Arab Times, Press Attaché at the American Embassy James Fennell clarified “the Embassy took the necessary precautionary measures in view of the security situation in the region but nobody was injured in the incident.
We are coordinating with the concerned Kuwaiti authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the nature of the material. The Embassy remained open for business as no official decision was taken to close it due to the incident.” Confirming that the package contained suspicious-looking material, a security source said Kuwaiti and American authorities immediately coordinated their efforts to address the issue. American explosive experts were instructed to cooperate with their Kuwaiti counterparts in examining the contents of the parcel. Kuwait’s National Security Apparatus (NSA), on the other hand, is closely following up the issue to identify the nature of the white powder. -Shawki M-
