A mother had three daughters and, on their wedding, she tells each one to write back about their married life. To avoid possible embarrassment to their new husbands by openly discussing their love lives, the mother and daughters agree to using newspaper advertisements as a "code" to let the mother know how their love lives are going.

The first one gets married and the second day the letter arrives with a single message, simply: "MAXWELL COFFEE HOUSE". Mother got the newspaper and checked the Maxwell Coffee House advertisement, and it says: "Satisfaction to the last drop..." So, Mother is happy.

Then the second daughter gets married. After a week, there was a Message that reads: "ROTHMANS'S MATTRESSES". So, the Mother looks at the Rothmans
Mattresses ad, and it says: "FULL SIZE, KING SIZE". And Mother is happy.

Then it was the third one's wedding. Mother was anxious. After four Weeks came the message: "BRITISH AIRWAYS". And mother looks into the British Airways ad, but this time she fainted. The ad reads: "THREE TIMES A DAY, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, BOTH WAYS."Not Bling Owner

My friend's not too bright. His wife told him she got an IUD and he told her that's what she gets for drinking and driving.

I went to see my doctor yesterday. The sign in the window said "If you are more than 20 minutes late for an appointment, you will be charged a fee." Yet, I was 5 minutes early and sat there 40 minutes before I was called to see the doctor. What's wrong with this?

A great way to get a tailgater off your tail is to turn on
your headlights... they will think you hit the brakes!

Why do we need assault rifles? Last time I checked, deer don't
fire back.)

School runs mock polls for students
April 23, 2008

A Kuwaiti school offered its students the unique experience of imitating the elections process, in its entirety, to better understand the adults' practice. Ghuzail Al-Asfour, supervisor of Al-Shaye's School located at Shamiah residential area, said that the students experienced and organized all aspects of an election and campaigning process, the only difference being their age.

Makeshift electoral headquarters and poll stations were set up with funding from parents of the students and the school management contributed in various expenses of the prototype process, Al-Asfour said. The management secured ballot boxes, and all students from the various levels of the elementary classes took part in the process, the votes determined based on candidates' manifestos.

Yousef Jassem Al-Yaacoub, a 10 year old fifth grade student, was the winner in the poll and secured 72 votes. Speaking about his program, he said he advocated women political and social rights and granting mothers longer paid leave to care for their children after birth. State property abuses and disregard for traffic laws also came up in his campaign, he said.

A close second was fifth grader Abdelrahman Al-Mishari with 62 votes. He said his emphasis was on increasing his peers' awareness on the nature, the functions, and guidelines organizing the National Assembly. This complements a lesson in the National Education syllabus, he added, and the school director supported this kind of live demonstration. His campaign topics included support of urban and construction development and utilizing the latest technology at state facilities like hospitals and training of medical staff and physicians, to improve the services provided in this vital sector.

This would reduce need and, therefore, expense of seeking treatment abroad, he stressed. Both students stressed their parents' support was crucial to success of this experience and that they and their peers have learned a great deal on this subject as the nation experiences the process in real life. - KUNA

why the Philippines is POOR.....the difference.eml Apr 21, 2008 7:15 am

fowarded message from my inbox --->>>

The difference between the poor countries and the
rich ones is not the age of the country:
This can be shown by countries like India & Egypt , that are more than 2000 years old, but are poor.

On the other hand, Canada , Australia & New Zealand, that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries, and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does
not reside in the available natural resources.

Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous,
inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw materials from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example is Switzerland , which does not
plant cocoa but has the best chocolate in the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not
enough, they produce dairy products of the best
quality! It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order & labor, which made it the world's strongest, safest place.

Executives from rich countr ies who communicate with their counterparts in poor countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference.

Race or skin color are also not important:
immigrants labeled lazy in their countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.

What is the difference then? The difference is the
attitude of the people, framed along the years by
the education & the culture & flawed tradition.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich &
developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the following principles in their lives:

> 1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
> 2. Integrity.
> 3. Responsibility.
> 4. Respect to the laws & rules.
> 5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.
> 6. Work loving.
> 7. Strive for savings & investment.
> 8. Will of super action.
> 9. Punctuality.
> 10. and of course...Discipline

In poor countries, only a minority follow these
basic principles in their daily life.

The Philippines is not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us. In fact, we are supposedly rich in natural resources.

We are poor because we lack the correct attitude. We lack the will to comply with and teach these
functional principles of rich & developed societies.

If you do not forward this message nothing will
happen to you. Your pet will not die, you will not be fired, you will not have bad luck for seven years, and also, you will not get sick or go hungry.

But those may happen because of your lack of
discipline & laziness, your love for intrigue and
politics, your indifference to saving for the future, your stubborn attitude.

If you love your country, let this message circulate so that many Filipinos could reflect about this,

& CHANGE, ACT!

who cares............... Apr 20, 2008 11:01 pm

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it's those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares.

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer's day , listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky , is by no means a waste of time .
