I read an article that listed Dominicano's as a brown race of people. I also have had several experiences with pinoy and pinay in which(believe it or not) their skin was darker than mine, actually quite black. I have been asked by several black(african) people, if I reconized that I am in fact brown and why do I love Dominican Republic so much and not blacks or africa.
There is also this great infacuation in this world with what we call "light skin". I have a baby girl and my brother also has a baby girl. My brother's baby is very very dark skinned. Most people see her and some say, is her father very black? My daughter is very light and many people that I work with(native americans) and most of my pinay and pinoy friends, say, oh she has a good filipino skin? or She really takes after her mother? Not knowing I guess that yes some dominicano's are very light and wow, how could someone so dark make such a light baby.
I said all of that to say this, I too am guilty of looking at the skin and making assumptions. I love my dominican people but don't care too much for very dark skinned people, especially darker than me. why, I guess I have been influenced by my society and I will tell this one story and end it. From a history of the philippines point of view but true for most people.
When the spanish were colonizing the world they would take members from the community to work in their homes, and to rule over the other members of that nation. Typically the spanards were very light or almost white and the ones they kept in power, leadership, and in good roles were also very light. So as the sterotype has grown, many sought the lighter skin to seek advancement into the more successful levels of life. Beauty, power, and even money were given to the people of lighter shades with darker shades having to fight it out amongst themselves for what was left. I may be brown and not light but we need to stop this and juge people as Martin Luther King junior said, "by the content of their charater and not the color of their skin." Each one teach one, thanks for reading take care and God bless your friend, # Biggs

I remember when I was a lot younger. Not to say that I feel old now, but maybe 10, 15, 20 years ago, I was a kid. I remember what I thought of the world, my place in it, and my soon to come world dominance. I also remember how narsasztic I was then. I once believed that if you said something important, or uplifting, or motivating that the person that it was meant to uplift would somehow get the message.
I Have a blog now and I know that is not so, . I also thought that by now I would be retired, and have a family and be living in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Wow, has that changed!!! so much of life happens before you have the time to react and so much happens and you can only think back on it but through it all I am glad that I have been here to experience it all. I am glad that I have Life and so proud of the life that I have lived. I don't think that my dreams are that far away but so many great times in my life I never dreamed of. Thanks for the memories, and more are sure to come, and thanks to all the true friends who've saw me through them all and to you all for reading. Take care and God bless, your friend, Biggs
So I came along a blog of a friends, and it was interesting and I posted a reply. I wanted to post several replies but then I thought, why am I acting as if this person cares what I think about the subject that they must have spent all of a bout two minutes typing? I guess I was being supercilious again and thinking that just because I had more life experience than most people will accumulate in their life times. But I also became aware that I don't have a loyal following, don't impact anyone's life and well this is called a blog because like a bump on a log, it is just plain useless!!!
But for those few souls that brave the world and leave a message for me and reply to a message that I leave, I say I will try to be better, blog more informatively and do all I can to make this blog the best it can be and that is not a pun on the United States Army, besides, I think they are trying to be strong now a days anyways? Thanks for reading and take care and God bless Biggs

I know that I did a list of places to vacation, but it was kinda around the world, but if your ever in the united states, or if you don't come here, then these are 5 discriptions that are places that are amazing and worth checking out!
5) Niagra Falls, New York, Its right on the New York Canada border but it is an amazing display of a waterfall and what the power of nature can do and its a good place to relax and refresh without much tech. or money.
4) MT Rushmore, Montana, The face of the presidents of the United States Carved on the side of a mountain and almost capturing the life essence of the presidents. Wow, breathe taking.
3) Seirra Mountains, Nevada, Snow capped in the winter and in a word, beautiful!!! Nevada has it all and no mountains anywhere are a better view than these
2) Petrified Forrest, Northern California, Some of the redwood trees there are big enough and cut open so that you can actually drive thru them, some of the trees are millions of years old. wow, a beautiful act of nature
honarable mention, Grand Canyon, nice but everyone's been there, ha, ha, ha, Hoover Damn, also very Majestic, and of course any of the Volcano's of Hawaii. They are all nice but not top 5 to me.
numero uno) Lover's Lane, Southern California. I have seen thousands of sunsets all around the world, and when the sun sits on the pacific ocean and the colors bounce off the trees in this make out spot, you will know why life is worth living, simply as beautiful as it gets in this life!!!
