Simple things ; lesson from burnt eggs.

I was boiling some eggs last night, 6 of them to be exact. I placed them in a pot with enough water and put them on cook top. So simple. What else could be simpler than boiling eggs? Surely everyone with a right mind knows how to. When cooking a complex dish we spend more time in it and stay over watching it, making sure we have all the right ingredients, including spices. There are even steps in cooking certain dishes on when and what ingredient to add next. Unlike boiling eggs , it’s like set and done in few minutes, no need to stay and watch them. So I did boil some eggs last night and went away doing other stuff without even thinking what will happen next. It was so simple, what could go wrong, right?

Wrong , even simple things when ignored can go wrong! This incident made me realize how often we ignore simple things in our lives, in our relationships. Simple things like saying “hello” or “good morning” or asking “are you ok?’. Simple things like remembering their birthdays or sending them a message or an e-mail. We spend so much time preparing for big events like a wedding or a birthday party, then after the big event we forget about the simple things that we should be doing everyday. Over time if these simple things are ignored or forgotten can burn a relationship or burn bridges. Simple things are easy enough to do, like boiling eggs, but even if they are simple we should not take them for granted. We should keep an eye on them and consciously do them. These simple things we say or do, matter a lot. If left ignored for too long they may ruin a relationship. Just like my simple hard boiled eggs, ignored then burnt and exploded.

This is my way of saying hello and making you know I am thinking of all of you. I hope you are all okay.

I never had a cooking award and never aimed for it but I tell you I had an eating and drinking award once.

Look like we are both not very mindful when in comes to egg cooking.
