My Favorite things.

Have you heard Julie Andrews' song in the movie The Sound of Music titled My Favorite things? Well none of those she mentioned in the song where my favorite but some lyrics of the song stuck in me since I heard it

"When the bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad.
I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad."

Well when I was young it does work , I just remember and sing along to my favorite songs then I don't feel so bad. Now that I'm older when I think of my favorite things it makes me feel bad.

I think that's the outcome of being mature, we lose the imagination, we always want everything in black and white, the here and now. That is the result of our experience, learning, disappointments and pain.

So now that we no longer believe in fairytales and fantasies what could we possibly think of that will help us when feeling bad? To me definitely my funny experiences, some funny people I met , some embarrassing moments in the past. Sometimes I get a bit naughty and I think of what if's. But most of all thinking of how lucky I am in many ways, counting my blessings makes me feel better.

Songs of course still make me feel better even if I can't sing but some songs can make me feel worse.

My all time favorite songs:
Bob Marley's " Don't worry be happy."
Bruno Mars' "You can count on me"
Ben King's " Stand by me."

So tell me, what do you do when you're feeling sad?
What songs make you feel better or bad?

I like it when you used the word "mature" and not the word "old or older".Well, when I am sad, I just let it be for a while. Some songs make me feel lonely, and some reminds me more of my pains and failures. There are those songs that still give me that sting of pain. So, what I do, I go out of my house and maybe go shopping or do some zumba.

Just call me ELZ

I believe music heightens emotions, it can make you happier if you are happy ad sadder when sad. Like prayers song make you happier when happy , prayers will not make you happy when sad but give you peace and hope when down.
