MULTITASKING

Women are said to be good at multitasking and are proud of it. It was said that women's brain were designed to be able to do more than one task at a time. This is much easier now with the new technologies. I for one, is good at multitasking and was proud of if but recently after a dialogue with h my church group and an article I read it made me think. Is it really good to multitask? Is it necessary? Is it worth it? Looking back at lives of human beings way back when there were no technologies and analyzing their lifestyle, do women really multitask? I doubt it.

Let's take a look at doing laundry way before when there were no washing machines, is it possible to multitask then? Can someone do manual laundry and cook at the same time? I don't think so. Now of course it is easy with machines. While we have the laundry going we can cook at same time and be on the phone or the internet too. Isn't that great ? Really? Maybe not. In some of my experience and observations some of the task are not done properly or not fully finished so they have to be done again. For example the laundry may be forgotten in the machine for many days and clothes becomes smelly so they have to be washed again. The food we are cooking may burn and end up with not a very good meal or look o another meal. I believed this has happened at least once to anyone who multitasked.

I have observed a baby sitter before who is suppose to be minding a but also doing something else, making her less focused on the and unfortunately the had an accident. I've also seen a mother who can't give full attention to her because she is doing something else and end up yelling at her when she got distracted from her other task. You get my point? Multitasking is not that good at all. It causes stress, conflicts, waste of time, poor work quality and ruins the enjoyment and satisfaction in doing the task. Many will probably disagree but I encourage you to think about it. Is multitasking really worth it ? Why hurry? Slow down, focus, enjoy what you are doing one task at a time. We can't serve 2 masters at he same time.

One of the very obvious task that we should focus on and not to do anything else while doing it is driving. This highlights the danger of multitasking. We should not multitask while driving. I have developed the habit of multitasking and now would like to break that habit because I now doubt it's benefits. I now would like to focus on what is more important, not to get distracted and just enjoy what ever it is I am doing ,one task at a time.

I am guilty of multitasking and I am giving it up. Are you?

Good luck Bizzy, though I believe multitasking is in the woman's genes so they do it unconsciously.

Multi tasking is a skill that not everyoneis capable of doing. But you are right, women are mostly good at it. We can cook while the laundry is being done and check FFF or FB 😜

Ang sa akin lang I prefer to stay focused at one task at a time and avoid all the stress and distraction. Give what is important our undivided attention. If someone is happier multitasking then why not. Yes savor what is going on and savor it better if you do it one at a time. It's a learning or perhaps unlearning process for me and I can see the benefits in it.

Ta Jane I am referring to multitasking literally, like I chat when I'm at work or doing something else but now I am refraining from that. Chatting with more than one person I don't mind it's like talking to more than one friend though as much as possible not chat at the same time unless if we are in a group chat. If I happen to be chatting with more than one person at the same time I let them know. I know what you meant by someone getting confused by my responses I sent the wrong response to a different person once but luckily they know I was chatting with someone else too.
