My mom had mild stroke last Christmas which was her first

A stroke occurs when the blood supply to your brain is interrupted or reduced. This deprives your brain of oxygen and nutrients, which can cause your brain cells to die. A stroke may be caused by a blocked artery (ischemic stroke) or the leaking or bursting of a blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke).

A transient ischemic attack (TIA) or mini (mild)stroke, occurs when part of the brain experiences a temporary lack of blood flow. It is a brief interruption of blood flow to part of the brain that causes temporary stroke-like symptoms.Unlike a stroke, a TIA doesn’t kill brain tissue or cause permanent disabilities. Since symptoms of a TIA and a stroke are nearly identical, you should seek immediate emergency attention if you experience any symptoms like vision changes, trouble speaking, confusion, balance issues, numbness, weakness, tingling, muscular weakness generally on one side of the body, an altered level of consciousness, dizziness, passing out, an abnormal sense of taste, an abnormal sense of smell.

People with TIA may temporarily find themselves unable to speak. After a TIA, people may tell their doctor that they had difficulty recalling words during the event. Other speech problems may include trouble saying a word or understanding words. This condition is called dysphasia. In fact, dysphasia is sometimes the only symptom of a TIA. Trouble speaking indicates that the blockage or blood clot that caused the TIA occurred in the dominant brain hemisphere. Sometimes, it manifests as a particular visual disturbance known as transient monocular blindness.

Home is where my mom is. I've never seen her so fragile like what happened on Christmas. We were having dinner and she was drinking with my aunts when Lola said something and my mom flared up. If I could only choose a grandma I would .

No matter how old I get, sometimes, I still just need a hug from mom to make everything better. A mother’s arms are more comforting than anyone else’s. Who ran to help me when I fell, who is always there for me? My mother. She knows me well and loves me the most.

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” ―Washington Irving
