MANILA TASTE
Taste of Manila brings the culture of one of Toronto’s biggest immigrant communities to the rest of the city. The Philippine Cultural Community Center and the Philippine Consulate General host a street festival highlighting Filipino culture and cuisine. The event is slated to close down Bathurst St. from Laurelcrest Av. to Wilson Av. from 12 a.m. on Saturday (August 20) to 12 a.m. on Monday, with dancing, live music, street food and the “world’s largest boodle fight.” From 60 vendors in the 2014 inaugural festival to 170 vendors in 2015, Taste of Manila has proven to be the Filipino choice event to showcase food, crafts and merchandise. A whopping estimated 180,000 to 200,000 people attended last year and it will surpass these data today and tomorrow. The biggest Filipino fiesta in the largest city which is Toronto is in n cooperation with the City of Toronto, the Toronto Transit Commission and the Toronto Police Services. Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Ontario Premier will attend this Saturday. Both the 160 Bathurst North and the 7/310 TTC bus will divert west at Wilson, north on Wilson Heights Boulevard and east of Sheppard Avenue West before continuing north on Bathurst.
