After three days of constant moonsoon rain, Sun peeks... on a cloudy day, a welcome news for clothes hanging out the clothesline, and for some birds chirping joyfully. Watching some old movies from two cable TV stations, changing channels in between scenes. Why? On 56 it's "Midnight Cowboy'and on 30 it's "Wyatt Earp". You should see the looks of Angelina Jolie on his father's face for Jon Voight was around his Twenties in this hustling type flick co-starring Dustin Hoffman (Ratso).I've seen this movie lots of time but still had the appeal on me, maybe for those scenes that were cut off out of censorship(X rated)issues at that time of the late 60's. A best picture and best director Oscar winner. The saddest part that always touched me and makes me teary eyed was that of the scene on the bus when both characters have to make it to Florida to evade the winter back in New York, Ratso's dreamland of sunny beaches . Cowboy Joe Buck was putting up plans for their migratory stay and then Ratso , blankstared eyes, heads on the bus windows now lifeless did'nt make it to Miami. A compelling movie about life struggle in the Big Apple..Still a smile for that looks of Jon Voight's resemblance to that of daughter Angelina. Kevin Costner as the Western Legendary "Wyatt Earp", scene on, when he was drunk begging for a quarter for an honest meal. Out of frustrations beat a man to death for some money and jailed for the crime, bailed out and have to made it to Arizona to escape prosecution. Landed a job as a bufallo hide skinner, end up a card dealer then as a town sheriff. To cut it short these two inspiring stories tells us the fate of struggling to live on even on a wayward life ,a hope to linger on, our troubled minds and frustrations, not to give up but hang on and how to survive the turbulent times. So! we must..."Keep on Trackin'!!! Move along!!! |
