I didn`t know that you lived in Germany for sometime....yes, didn`t mention specifically the descrimination but you`re right, we call them "hochnaessige" literally means high nose or arrogant...but it didn`t come from nothing as they were "product" of the war, they strived hard to achieve what they have now, that makes them proud as self made people. Well, you are lucky too as americans are not especial people in their sight. In fact, they never depend on americans..in terms of economic or business wise. I remember one story of my american classmate in language course, he was considered professional in his handyman career but the german co. required him to study further to get that "skills" they required. Education is not fully accepted either unless accdg. to EU Turkish people have bad reputation in germany especially in terms of business dealings. I myself experienced that when me and ex. wanted to buy a car. We travelled that far to the car dealer. First, the turkish guy was not on time, he let us waited for almost an hour, second, he lied, he told the car was in top form...but my ex. is good in that, just the sound of motor he can tell what`s wrong with the car. Another experienced, we rented a flat accross the resto. and usually at 10 pm, not allowed to play loud music anymore, it was also not metallica or bad music for my taste, in fact, it`s Bonney M. so liked it but my ex. didn`t like being disturbed so they exchange several shouting conversation on phone. Of course my ex. was also bit cynical Somehow I missed that locker, a bit flexible or spontaneous kind of life and not just following rules all over, ...of course still law abiding Thanks Joseph for the input and have good day!

That was fine Joseph, thanks for sharing your experiences as well. It`s good to see in different perspective the other side of the coin. I would tend to generalize them only if I didn´t see my friends` hubby`s here, nice and good people on their own or maybe they are exemptions...but then my ex. is not typical german too, lol Yes, I still have contact to Sofia every now and then, she`s undergoing training in a law firm office. Thanks again for your kind words Joseph , much appreciated

Ate..I heard also that stories about Ofw`s , some they do it for temporary "dwelling" but then there`s this emotional aspect that when one get used to it, it`s difficult to get out again, sooner or later, they have to make choice,...not here to judge coz never been into that position, but whatever the reasoning I`m sure someting to do with compromising for the sake of survival... I agree with you with the food. I love pastas and potatoes since Wendy`s time in the Philippines and to substitute it for rice is not a big deal for me. Some are really new to my taste like brown bread (entirely different from wheat bread in P , eating avocados with salt, lol... but over time you get used to it but still, I missed a lot like home grown veggies, eggplant in Pinas is tasty from eggplant from Holland wHich taste like water for me. Meat and dairy products are german foods which are still okey for me when consumed appropriately. But what I can`t accept is when someone tells me what to eat and what not to eat especially when I am not fully convinced that it`s not good for me, giving chocolate in replacement to love is not good both good food for the soul, like eating banana or apple at night, what´s wrong with that? , and then u get blamed if you get sick...count how many times a day you eat so you get an idea how many arguments we got May sound childish but one big reason of everyday fights with ex., hindi ko kinaya

Franco, glad you found it ...it is my own experience what I`m sharing here from "auslander" point of view ...and I noticed that too especially during cold season, many get depressed...you only have to find out that such feelings don`t grip you... Thanks for the input and have a nice day
