Can Anyone Truly Define Love? (a repost)

Have you ever noticed how love has so many definitions? That's because no one can truly define love. Every definition you read are words made up by people who thinks that that is what love is all about. A definition that society has declared to be the norm.

Love is blind:

Oh yes, love can make you blind. You can be in love with someone who is short or dark or fat or dirt poor but none of that would matter because all that would matter is how that person makes you feel.

Love makes you stupid:

Oh yes, love can make you stupid because even though you may turn out to be the smartest girl in your class, love will defy every logic you have ever learned. You will never be able to explain why that person makes you feel the way he does. You will not learn from books why the mere sight of him takes your breath away nor would a scholar be able to make you comprehend why you feel happy when he's around or why you are sad when he's not.

Love makes you crazy:

Oh yes, love definitely makes you crazy. What was once was irrational will become rational and what was once insane will become sane. Love has the power to make you defy the logic of living and thus make you do things that society deems to be out of the norm, like falling in love with someone you've never seen or falling for words that was just said.

Love has no reason:

Yes, love has no reason. It was never meant to have have one. It was never meant to be dissected and analyzed. It is just there to be felt. How can one explain away an attraction to one person when if you look around, there are those more attractive? How does one explain away ones fascination for someone when again if you look around there are those more fascinating? How does one explain away the sense of contentment of someone who feels happy just to be able to see someone's smile?

Love has no reason. Love is crazy. Love is stupid. Love is blind.

What more can I say?

---I posted this a couple of years back and is simply sharing it again. I want to reassure some good friends that despite the unfortunate "event", I am neither cynical or jaded. I'm still a firm believer of love and will probably always be a hopeless romantic.
