Pre-Valentine Poem


Yesterday, yester-years, yester stories,
Flashbacks, racing through my memories;
The good times spent from way back then,
Still inspires me to pick up a pen;
To write what's beautiful from before,
That nowadays I seem to find no more.

The youth had hastily left me feeling wasted,
The times I took for granted and thought I never wanted;
Never it occurred to me that one day I'd look back,
Eating my words that tasted like salt made of rock;
I find consolation and humility accepting my regrets,
The times I never valued but will never forget.

Was it really all of Me, or was it just my destiny?
All my journeys from here and until eternity;
At times I thought I am always in full control,
But things happened, even if I abhorred;
Circumstances that I may have rendered sublime,
Now I just reminisce in words that rhyme.

Where is the Love I used to know?
Had it melted just like the snow?
Will there be a new flame or will it be just a game?
If I try it again, will it put me to shame?
All these thoughts have given me a goose flesh,
I definitely do not want a life that is full of mess.

So thank you all for reading this masterpiece,
I sincerely wish your Valentine filled with bliss;
Don't forget to share all the love in your heart,
If you haven't done yet, now is the time to start;
Wish me luck, but by all means let me be,
If no one loves me, let me love ME............

Hi there CC!...I'm sure Mr. not so Right is somewhere out there, indeed, it's just that the place where I live right now and my lifestyle of being a homebody does not give me the right exposure.
