The World Is Changing..And so must We...

Time has changed. People's perception and values have loosen up a bit leading to a more liberal point of view. Now, here in the USA and in some other parts of the world, it is acceptable and legal for man to man, woman to woman to marry. Well, ever since I was in a co-ed school, I have been exposed to all types of relationships. I have witnessed gays, lesbians, bisexuals engaged in relationships which were still a "taboo" mostly at that time. They were always the subject for criticism, scrutiny, hatred, disrespect, and bullying. Well, NOT MUCH ANYMORE..!!..They are now more recognized by the society because let's face it, they also play important roles in the society, and they contribute to the economy, the expansion of both the virtual and real business world, and opening the people's eyes to new horizons. The Conservatives may have different point of views, as most of them are stuck with things that are considered "traditional" and are always in conformity with things of "moral values". I grew up in the metropolis (Manila) where people look up to the Western way of life and were mostly embracing it. My eyes were and still are open to anything realistic, irregardless of the societal values. If I see them happening as it is, my heart and mind are always in complete balance. I have seen the "reasons" why gays/lesbians/bisexuals are such. None of them wanted to be "different", feeling "abnormal" and become a social outcast. Some of them even tried so hard to be what they were supposed to be born AS, and kept themselves in the closet for a long time. Some questioned their identities and spent their lifetime wondering what else could be done to make things RIGHT. Some succumbed to depression and took their own lives NOT knowing that someday, there will be a place in this world for them. And that someday is NOW...Personally speaking, I have nothing against them. NOT Yesterday, NOT Today, and definitely NOT Tomorrow. I accept people as they are, NOT what I want them to be. I just want them to be TRUE to themselves, and therefore TRUE to others...No More, ...No Less..

Nice one Elz. Thanks for accepting me . I still feel uncomfortable but understanding when I see overly public display of affection by all persuasions. But I guess that's because I'm overly private.

No, I don't believe it is wrong to be gay. I admire those who stood up for what thy feel and suffer all sorts of discrimination just to prove what they really are and what they stand for. What is wrong for me is pretending to be and fooling others for what you are not.

Ms B. I definitely hear you. I have a nephew who is obviously gay , at least as , we observe. But he is not the screaming faggot type. He is a school teacher for heaven's sake. But he tried to date women, even got engaged at one point. But we continue to see him happier around men. My sister had a hard time accepting it at first but it is what it is. 😰

Being gay is obviously a challenge. I can't say if it is right or wrong. What I understand is that in some cultures it is considered a form disability. My take on it is that it shouldn't matter what we are, in one way or another we all share some form of disability. What is condemned are the deeds that we commit and the weaknesses that we surrender to in the pursuit of discovering ourselves. I am single mom who has never been married. I have obviously given in to my own weaknesses at some point, so who am I to judge? My own best friend is gay and he is probably the only one in the world who understands me with all my day to day challenges. But never in the world will I tell him that it is ok to pursue what he sometimes wishes to pursue when I know that these things could harm him. Promiscuity is dangerous even for straight people. And according to my gay best friend, this can sometimes be the biggest challenge in the gay community.

Beth or Vivian, I understand what you're saying, and believe me, I also had a wonderful gay friend in college who was so understanding of life more than "normal" people do, but his promiscuity was an outcome of the failed relationships with the "real" men who only wanted only money from him. Gays will give EVERYTHING they have, including their lives. Hence, their search for true love leads them to engage in swex activities from one relationship to another, from one man to another, who, most of the time were abusive...I THINK, THIS IS THE REASON WHY NOWADAYS, MOST GAYS ARE RELATED TO SOMEONE WHO IS LESS GAY, WHO UNDERSTANDS HOW IT IS TO BE GAY..MAKING THEM BOTH GAYS.. Just my observation..

Jane, like I said, this generation is more understanding of the "third sex" dilemma. Of course, NOT ALL understands the way people with broader minds do. I do know that those gays/lesbians contribute so much to the society in more ways than one. Yes, most of them are very talented and excel in so many things, because they usually make up for what they do not have or lack with..I agree with you, Jane, they should be more accepting of themselves before they expect people to accept them....

And it is my wish that FFF members should not sabotage any member blog...I noticed that both e109 and godiva0824's blogs are not being shown on the main blog page..EVERYONE HAS EQUAL PRIVILEGE in blogging, unless, one decides to pay (should I put my gold ball back then? )

I didn't realize that this blog was denied after it was approved for a while...I guess, someone reported it...All I can say is: The world has changed, and we must accept everyone whatever their sexual orientation and preference may be.
