I consider this to be the Mother
of All Tear Jerker songs.
Elvis also did a very touching
rendition of this
in which he starts out
with a descriptive monologue
on how a man is dying
and he sees that his wife
has fallen asleep in the chair next to him..
and he dies without waking her..
after saying these words to her..

 i like matt monroe's version..
Matt was born Terry Parsons in north London in 1930,
to Alice and Frederick.
He died at the Cromwell hospital in London,
7th February 1985, at the age of only 54.
He was a heavy drinker and smoker...
he passed away at this young age
due to cancer of the liver.

 This is just the most romantic song in the world i think,
also the most saddest i think,
if anyone does not have a tear after listening to it
and understanding why it was sung,
there must be something wrong with them,
you sing it so passionately with such feelings too,
really beautiful..

 Listening to Elvis spoken version and in the background someone singing. Too sad. Then seeing an old pics of Elvis & Pricilla. Typical handsome prince and beautiful princess. They were so playfully in love. The change that ripped them up. Just so sad. Only eteranal happiness for the lucky...
