Stress can do a lot of damage, it lowers down the immune system which in turn affects the whole body in general.Exercise, drinking plenty of water, and everything else in moderation is good.

Green, leafy, organic vegetables are said to be non-carcinogenic...

Only learnt about diabetes about a few years ago when I'd to keep an eye on how an acquaintance with diabetes was doing.

Stress is killing me gradually.

Very interesting post Jane... gone were the days wherein man rely on the natural healing of diseases...human skills, interventions and continuing medical research will never end because new diseases will be discovered and the cycle continues.

I love eating bananas, I learned it from my previous boss it is very nutritional.

No single food can protect one for cancer but one can reduce the risk by eating the right types of food and the ways of cooking food.

The best way to cook food is by steaming or grilling food at a low temperature.Burning the meat in a high heat when grilling a barbecue causes cancer.Avoid eating smoked food, maybe eat a small amount once in a blue moon or in a special occasion.

Organic foods are best to buy which are grown free from pesticides and hormones.Food that help fight cancer are the antioxidant foods with Vitamin B6 such as green leafy vegetables, root vegetables, tomatoes, garlic, beans, carrots, grapes, berries, walnuts, watermelon, cherries, fruit and vegetable juices, white meat and fish.

Tomato sauce is rich in lycopene which is a carotenoid that is found in red fruits, which acts as antioxidant for the body.Drinking green tea is now being studied and experimented which also helps risk cancer.

I often watch Asian Food Channel and there is a reality show which uses herbal spices in their cooking which are good for one's health.

Too true Moses. Thanks!

There is always something new to discover.

Infectious diseases seems to gradually resist the effects of meds like antibiotics eventually.

I find bananas are easy to pick up and eat and also wards off my sugar craving sometimes.

I love grilling. I used to steam food myself, but mom doesn't steam food at all.

Oh dear I've to take care not to eat too much BBQ then.

The cheapest way and maybe easier way to be organic is grow your own food. A small pot of different herbs would be a good start.

Ms. C and Elsa are both correct with green and green tea.

Green tea is a powerful antioxidant and facilitates the death of cancer cell. Steep for 5 minutes to release the beneficial effects.

I've been drinking green tea in the past year, but I'm still finding it hard to acquire the taste. Prefer other herbal teas like camomile and peppermint. Teas also can be organically produced.

Also green leafy vegetables and otherwise known as brassicas or cruciform vegetables, because the leaves of a seedling form a cross.

Like brocolli, a hybrid between broc and cauli is broccoflower or romanesco brocoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi or turnip, brussel sprouts (which I find a little yucky, but will eat anyway), Chinese or normal cabbage, brocollini (is a naturally-occurring cross between broccoli and gai lan [Chinese kale].

Ms. C is right with garlic.

Garlic can help reduce carcinogenic effects of certain substances. I mostly cook with finely chopped garlic and roughly sliced onions.

Foods that Ms. C mentioned that are rich in carotenoids are tomatoes, root vegetables eg. sweet potatoes, carrots and also include yams, squash, apricots and beets.

Also herbs and spices like turmeric. Must be used and mixed with black pepper and ideally dissolved in olive oil.

Ginger is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, which acts against certain cancer cells.

Herbs such as mint, oregano and basil are rich in useful acids of the terpene family, which has been shown to act on a wide variety of tumours.

Not mentioned:

From the Japanese diet- Soy blocks dangerous hormones. Try drinking soya instead of cow's milk, tofu, tempeh and miso.

Mushrooms contain polysaccharides and lentinian, which stimulate the number and activity of immune cells.

Seaweed contains molecules that slow cancer growth esp. breast, prostate, skin and colon.

Another Ms. C mentioned is oily fish which has long chain of omega-3s.

Whereas, flaxseeds contain short chain omega-3s.

A cancer patient passed his fight against cancer and lived longer after changing quickly to a vegan diet (a strict or pure form of a vegetarian diet).

I'm really don't know any thing about food, except that it cures my hunger; to play safe, I live on fish and vegetable and lots of fruits. I didn't know that sugar is one of the causes, now I'm worried 'cause I'm a coke addict.

In passing, I congratulate you for winning your battle with college life. The first time I noticed that a girl could look so beautiful in a graduation gown, and with those glasses, you look terrific. I enjoyed very much your blog and learned a lot; combining all I've learned from female blogger here, I can say that I gained a clearer insight of how a woman mind works. Good luck and Goodbye; be good, if you cannot be good, at least be safe.

That is another reason why I hate the US junk food culture.

Don't worry. I understand completely mama Malt.

Some farmers are fussy about how they grow their vegetables and spices like garlic in order to get the best tasting food around. A speciality.

Thanks for your visit Tris. You're most likely to know a lot about the Japanese culture.

Work is like one of the biggest stress factors in my life too. It's not the load of work that's the problem because the practical work is quite simple to do. It's the bosses and a few co-workers that could drive me around the bend.

Too many chiefs and not enough Indians who are getting paid the same as me.

Going by what you said Schoen. I could be a pie.

Good to see everyone anyway. You aren't obliged to comment. Your greeting and presence alone is enough. I've always said this especially to ma dear friend CS. Any nonsense will do.

If you wish to know more and speak Japanese, directing you to a Japanese speaker just above you. As you know, Japan have cute Asians.
