Well well, I did not know you were taking driving lessons, and learning stick as well. For some reason I thought you already knew how to drive. Good on you though.

I recall that my driving instructor was really good and personable, and helped me relax and enjoy the lessons. I think that when learning anything new, enjoyment is key as it makes it less of a chore and makes you more focused. Having a good rapport with the instructor helps, as you tend to be more open to suggestions and cooperative. Not to mention you might snag a few free lessons as well, ey?

One thing to mention - I advise having a significant other act as an insructor. More often than not that simply leads to unnecessary tension in the relationship. Better off paying for one. Generally speaking, of course.

So, how long have you been taking lessons, sounds like you've had more than a few already?

My will is unbreakable. Simply put, I cannot be broken - Enrique

Way to go Janey..Just always keep in mind that you're a better driver than the one behind you and you got the bigger portion of the responsibility. Stay safe. Drive safely.

Btw, love your pic. Killer smile. Keep it up kiddo

Ahhhh! I remember my driving days in NYC...Geesssshhh! as soon as I got my temporary driver's license, the following day, I was already at the car dealer..., and since I drove by myself, I had stomach ulcers for the first 6 months! Imagine, driving in New York City? For someone like me, who've not driven in the Philippines? You can just imagine.....But after a year, oohlahlah!...I was already racing with `em crazy peeps on the highways, and even engaged in road rages! ...But no! not anymore...and I do not recommend that to you..

Just call me ELZ

I can drive unsafely for fun, but you won't get far. This time I'm taking proper lessons, so I'll be a safer driver and abide by the U.K rules.

You're lucky Enrique to have a good and personable instructor right away. I agree with what you said about building a good rapport with them.

Don't know whether the instructor will willingly give any free lessons, but with the offer she has extended to the end of this month. She counts the last 2 lessons as free coz of the reduced price.

Generally, you're right.

Honestly, I'd enjoy my partner showing me how to drive more. The reason why I can't go on the road with him is coz I'd have to pay separate insurance for provisional learner. It's more costly than what it's worth. He'd rather I save it for the real insurance. His car at the moment is in a poor state, his clutch sticks and would be tricky to use. I've driven the Rover as well as his old Saxo. Saxo was class.

16 lessons minus 10. I don't count the first instructor coz he hardly took me out and wasn't learning new stuff.

Thank you and thanks for the advice sis Theta. A Brit/Chinese friend wanted her photo taken and mine after her make-up class. Thought might as well make use of this pic.

Do you drive or ever thought of doing it?

Learning to zone out other drivers and not care what they think. Hard to do, but possible. Besides, I'm driving a bright car with a large L sign for learner, they'll notice from a distance. They're welcome to overtake and drive away any time coz I'm limited to 45 mph, so it relieves the pressure to go faster.

I am thanks Joseph. How's your driving? What car do you drive and what's your dream car?

The first was a sporty Citroen and currently it's a Clio. I prefer the controls in Clio, it's in between manual and electric. I get a better feel for the gears, pedals and when it stalls. Not stalling is an achievement in itself.

The time frame I've left is since I passed first time the theory test, is almost 2 years ago. Expires before September preferably, so I won't have to resit and update the theory test.

Then might consider driving you around Tinks.

Janey,

I'm so happy for you!!! Remembering my driving instructor always gets nervous when i drive, unlike the other two classmates of mine. Til now my sis and everyone are scared of my driving...

Greatest feelings in the world when two souls profess a love for each other...

Kudos to you Miss Elz. The national speed limit is 60mph, but I feel anything beyond 30 is fast. Wouldn't trade places with you.

It is harder to get a proper license. Getting more rigorous with both tests every few years, to put off new young learners from driving to keep roads safer. More and more new information are added, theory has multiple choice questions, pass mark is 43 out of 50 and hazard perception is 44 out of 75. The practical test checks eye sight, ability, safety questions- show and tell them what's in the car, reversing safely and independent driving without any supervision (directions of where to go).

Janey,

My late father taught me. Long time ago. Once, in Cali I drove thru the Pacific Coast Hiway from Malibu to Sta. Barbara with my nurse friend taking a nap beside me on the front. She didn't know that what I had then was my student's license here in the PI coz I just arrived barely 3months. Once we reach our destination, I told her so and almost fainted with worry. She didn't let me drive again even I got my International permit.

Ach I dunno why they're nervous of you Ate Tess. .

Bessie said my first instructor reminds her of having her hubby, he makes her nervous too and not want to drive.

The first instructor is like an ex hounding me to check if I want to come back for lessons. I've already turned him down before politely and he asked again.

Ate Tess it's good that you've wider roads and don't have to learn to drive in ice and snow as part of the test. More room for manoeuvre.

Yeah I guess her being a female doesn't help, although if she swung both ways you could've used your feminine wailes to score some additional lessons

I did not know about that additional insurance - I guess that would put a damper in learning with a partner. Ah well, you prolly are better off learning from a paid professional. I guess that applies when learning anything new, although having a professional ski insructor didn't stop me from breaking my leg, hahaha

To answer your question from another blog yeah I suffered frostbite to my right ear. The entire ear was a dark red/black and I really thought it would break off, it didn't hurt though because I guess the nerves were dead. It took about a month to fully heal, and I was quite lucky I didn't lose.

Also - awww, you are an xbox girl...boo! PS3 4 lyfe!

My will is unbreakable. Simply put, I cannot be broken - Enrique

hahaha only had a lesbian woman come on to me. It was years ago when I actually used to visit the pubs/bars. I just had to be nice and avoid giving her the wrong idea. In the end, she left in peace.

Wouldn't take advantage either way. Who knows what the person would want in exchange??
Mah bessie changed one of her 3 instructors coz he was creepy and my friends think my first instructor is creepy too.

It's all part of the experience, breaking a leg. It's a reminder what not to do next time. Accidents happen whether we try to avoid or not. Can't always be controlled or helped sometimes particularly when someone else gets involved, in spite of risk assessments. A person could accidentally or intentionally bump into you and may want to be rescued like a damsel in distress to get your number.

Eeeeek frostbite. You're so lucky to have kept your ear. Did it affect your hearing afterwards?
Frostbite is an experience I'd hate to feel. I've seen them in movies, but not first hand. At least I've got first aid training. I've more confidence now to offer assistance and try my best to perform it on myself if I have to.

.....BOOOOO HOOOO NOOO to PS4!!!

Xbox 720 for life.

Sugaronly is taking of her in law's parents or something to do with family I read when she took a break.

Sis Bebong hibernates for a few months most of the time and will return unexpectedly. Probably on holiday in Pinas with mom and hubby or somewhere exotic and secluded away from prying eyes. I realise she values her privacy during her breaks big time.

Pretty pleased with the casting of last James Bond. The director Sam Mendes kept it typically British like himself and did a splendid job.

Daniel Craig suits the role. His casting kinda broke the typical mould for James Bond.

Did you watch the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? The U.S. version or the original Swedish?

Ah still I'd pay to see you be the Bond girl. No kidding.

Got me curious. I haven't seen Nikita and I thought of La Femme Nikita, which I would've watched years ago. I see from reading what Nikita is about, it mentions that it's loosely based on the original French La Femme Nikita. Gonna check out the rest of the series and see how it goes.

hehehe well maybe Ate Bebong. But sugar is busy looking after the family. Might not have much time for siesta.

How about you? What did you drink on your siestas?
