Mother keeps a garden,
a garden of the heart,
She plants all the good things
that gave my life it's start.
She turned me to the sunshine
and encouraged me to be brave,
Fostering and nurturing
the seeds of forgiving ...
And when the winds and rain came,
she protected me enough-
But not too much because she knew
I'd need to stand up firm and tough.
Her constant good example
always taught me right from wrong-
Markers for my pathway
that will last a lifetime long.
I am my Mother's garden.
And I hope today she feels the love
reflected back from me

Janey,

Such a heart warming dedication for your mom. She looks beautiful in that pic holding that plant. A mother's love is true and the legacy will forever show in her children. She did a great job on raising you and your siblings. Have a great sunday'te

Greatest feelings in the world when two souls profess a love for each other...

My Mom was only 15 years old when she got married with my Dad, and it was only because they were caught holding hands in the river by themselves...I come from a very conservative family. My mom barely finished 2nd year HS, but she taught us how to be "fair" in our judgment. She was a very good role model for being humble, kind, generous, and most of all, being polite...She is also a very strong woman. She endured all the hardships raising 5 of us, her children after she and Dad split when I was 6 years old..I wouldn't exchange my mom for the world...

Just call me ELZ

Janey,

Like you, my lola (whom I fondly called 'ima')practically raised me until grade school. No proper schooling for she married my lolo at age 16, nevertheless I learned so much from her. Instilled in me so many great values - the joys and love of being a mother, be patient and tolerant for the worse and good of others and most of all, sacrifices for those you love..

Happy Mother's Day! 2mos advance, but isn't everyday a happy mom's day

Yes it's strange to see others celebrate Mother's day later. I'm used to celebrating it in between St. Patrick's day and Easter period. It just so happens that this year falls on after St. Patrick's day which is also my uncle's birthday.

Thanks very much TaJane. Mom is the best. She can be your friend and foe in a matter of minutes, so everybody has to watch we say. Want to stay on her good side.

Yes very lucky to be still alive for such a long time especially lola and lolo and I got the chance to grow up with gran and grumps for at least a decade.

I've no doubt you're a good mom and lola sis Rac. You're one of ladies I would look up to because of your strong moral values.

Yes 'te Tess, it's my fave photo of her with her tropical plant. She looks so young in this and love the dress I got her. Suits her very well. Hope she wears in holiday. She might bring her other bargain buys to wear though in Pilipinas.

If I misbehaved and turned truant, I doubt she'd love us as much because she'd disapprove and hate it, but we're brought to be good kids, so hopefully we stay the same.

You and your mom are wonderful moms too. I'll greet you again when it's time for your own mother's day.

That's younger than my lola. Good on your mom, she did a grand job to raise you all alone after the split. Those are the same qualities I learnt from mom too- humble, kind, generous and polite.

Mom tried her best to finish her education and fund everything herself. She's extremely determined that she finished her BA and pass the teaching exam in the Philippines. She worked her way from nothing, working as a maid to working as a canteen manager, librarian to teacher and back to the flexi times of cleaning.

awwww sis Elz. Your son is very proud of you too like you're with your mom. It's enlightening to see that good qualities are passed on from one generation to the next.

Wow... I feel Im in the company of strong and wise ladies here!

Me, I look up to my lola who passed away last month, and also to the likes of Mother Teresa, Sts. Therese of the Child Jesus and Teresa de Avila I also get inspired by some of the wise women I've known and been friends with in my life
Same here. We're very blessed to have beautiful lolas. I like the fact that lola and gran had different qualities to share.

I also get inspired by other women I watch on TV like this Indian lady who managed a grand design for a house, she was so cool, calm, controlled and disciplined in how she wanted the house put together. She was amazing to watch. She didn't panic, unlike other women I've seen on the show. She's a woman that "wears the pants".

You're like my friend P sis Theta. She was raised by her lola after her mom passed away. I learn from many like yourself about the joys of motherhood. Thanks for sharing!

I'm proud of my lola. She misses me, so I pray I'll make in time to see her soon. She too married early like your lola at 15/16 to lolo about a year or two older than her. They should've had 15 children. 13 were born. 6 lived through adulthood.

This is the verse that the school remembers me for as a kid and was written as a reminder for me from the Bible the principal gave me on my way to live abroad. My brother is named after this scripture.

Joshua 1:8-9

King James Version (KJV)

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
