Life in Death

The longer I live, the more often we have to experience and see the death of others and have our own near death experiences. Please excuse the morbid topic, I felt like sharing. Paying my respect for the dead this Halloween. Death is inevitable, comes to visit us anyone from any background sooner or later. Therefore, no matter how much material or worldly possessions we have, these will all come to an end. Like love, death crosses any divides. Whether the living or dead was or is a Roman Catholic or Protestant, each one pays their respect for the dead and set their foot inside any religious institution. Gathering the living in one place. An occasion to set aside any personal differences between the living and the dead. Strengthens the bond of friendship and family values, coming together to support each other in our time of need. I found myself relating to my friend's very similar circumstances of our grandparent’s dying moments within the past 5 years. Haunts the living. Makes the living reassess their lives. There’s always room for improvement. To live life now, live healthier and not worry too much. An opportunity to forgive trespasses and shortcomings for the last time; no matter how controlling, demanding, possessive and nasty the person lived in the past. Buries and glosses over the bad memories and reliving the good memories. Focusing on the dead person’s redeeming qualities and personal history. Makes the living realise how important this person was to their lives. No one else can really fill the gap the person had left behind and the roles s/he had as a mother, father, brother or otherwise. Makes one aware of social decorum and rituals to follow. What’s appropriate to wear and what’s inappropriate to say. Death creates a sombre mood, yet the living doesn’t forget to laugh to defuse tension in the air, to smile and greet each other with kindness and compassion. Comforting the bereaved requires sympathy, empathy, a lot of patience, attention and genuine care. The bereaved don’t fully heal, their sorrow and grief will linger on for many coming years. While the dead person no longer has to fill hunger, feel pain and quench their thirst, the living continues to suffer in pain or otherwise, continuing to consume snacky foods and hot drinks to stay alive, well and refreshed. Need to sort out the family will. Is it more costly to die than to live? Opens a new door of possibilities for those who are left behind. “Every man dies - Not every man really lives.” W.R. Wallace “Life lives, life dies. Life laughs, life cries. Life gives up and life tries. But life looks different through everyone's eyes.” ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thank you for bringing better view during this holiday. We should rather remember all those who died before us and reflect how precious life is, as you did. I put a candle on my mother's grave already, I am at peace now.

Tomorrow is a blank page, just waiting to be filled with dreams... All we have to do is be ourselves and live the story of our own unique life. Be proud. Be confident. And most of all be happy. Farewell! God knows when we shall meet again.
