To Re-marry or Not : Life after divorce/annulment

I know that after going through painful divorce and annulment, most people are hesitant or scared to tie the knot again. However, loneliness and sense of belongingness create that feeling or desire to get hitched again with the hope that maybe, the second (to some, it maybe more) time around, things will be a lot better. I'd like to address this question to ALL FFF members (divorced, widow/er, annulled, separated, married, and even single). Would you:
Re-marry because you feel that it is the most sacred thing to do?
Re-marry because you need all the support to raise the (both sides)?
Re-marry because you want to make things legal with your present partner?
Re-marry because you are pressured by your partner to do so, otherwise, you're heading towards Splitsville?
Just live together, enjoy each other's company, but be emotionally and financially committed to one another?
Rather stay as sweethearts, live in separate houses, date when you feel like, and do things independently, even date others?
Just remain "special friends with privileges" and go on with your daily routines?
Live-in for a couple of years or so, and then, decide later if you want to get married?
Re-marry but sign for a prenuptial agreement?
Undecided

Mandy, sometimes, the aftermath of divorce has a huge impact in people's lives that the word marriage is considered a bad allergy, it can cause people to have an anaphylactic shock.

hmmmm.. after my separation, i met a lot of men, some from this site & they were nice but there was always this thing at the back of my mind reminding me that it is always almost perfect the first time you are w/ someone new.. after some time or shortly after, i met a man that was a filipino who had been in the US since childhood so his personality was a mix of fil-am culture which i found interestingly attractive.. cutting this short, you can know a man for a short term or long term but it always comes back to Change & this i think will ultimately decide the solidity of the relationship..

i vote for giving any relationship time to go through the ups & downs first & then analyzing the outcome of each crisis.. from there you will learn if you can be good together & if both of you want it to be permanent.. hello elz

I don't blame you Gem! When I was a lot younger, I dreamt of getting married with all the trimmings, but with everything that is going on right now, where relationships are very unsteady and people don't respect marriage the way it is supposed to be, I've had second thoughts and I am into commitments w/o making my headaches legal...But then, again, you'll never know...If the right man comes along...

Thanks for your straightforward post Hon. It really looks like "It's All Good" during the first year, to most. And then, comes CHANGE. I dunno if ultramodern age has something to do with people's commitment and sincerity, but yeah, it's really hard to nurture something where only one is truly making an effort to make the relationship thrive...Marriage is never a guarantee these days. It just makes your belongingness and union legal. Have a great evening Honey!

Ed, you mean to say, you cannot love with all your heart now, even though your 3 daughters are not ready to settle down yet?..I mean, falling truly and deeply in love can still happen without marrying, you know.

Bestest friend, Jeff. I know I've heard that from you before. I am a Catholic too, but not as devoted as you are. I am a very modern Maria Clara. I still believe in marriage, but right now, it means more to me to be in a stable relationship free from the pressures of being tied down just because. I know how loyal I am, how committed I am and how I will do my best to work things out. The problem lies on the prospective partner. My only son is done with college and is now gainfully employed. I have waited almost 8 years now without someone I can officially call my "BF", and I still have that patience to wait until the right one comes along. If he's not gonna be there for me, then, so be it! Life is still wonderful and I'm enjoying it, however it presents itself to me. Talking about adversities? I think, I am a PRO now.

a divorce or an annulment was acquired for the very reason of getting married again in the future.
now...re-marrying for whatever causes stated above...
is another dilemna of ours
but of course, we are priviledged to...giving it a try...again
by hook or by crook???

My dear, I know it is difficult to decide what really is best suited for us because fear of the unknown will always be there, the WHAT IF, and WHAT NOT. It is scary, but people who are in love are prone to make mistakes just the same. The most important thing is, we'll cross the bridge when we get there, and be responsible for our actions.

Cat, the first one is always the ideal one for those who really want marriage the conventional way.,,that is, for keeps. But it is a known fact that people do not value this sacred sacrament that much anymore. When people marry only because of love and not for lifetime commitment, then trouble comes in. Love fickles, and changes its intensity overtime. It is very hard for most of us to keep that flame burning specially when we have kids already. Priorities change as well and the romance takes the backseat. The next thing we know, because of lack of commitment and loyalty, there is already a 3rd person involved. I'm sorry, I might press the sensitive key here but I have to bring it up to be realistic. It does take two to tango.

Some people get burnt and hurt deeply, even though the sense of belongingness will always be there, indecision as to really take that plunge and tie that knot again is a dilemma we have to face. Have you noticed the pattern here with the people we both know and don't know that much? Even just being in a romantic relationship is so erratic, and inconclusive. Once one of the partners(specially us, wowen,) becomes serious, men just like stockings, run at the first sign of emotion...

Please continue to monitor the results. As of this writing, INDECISION votes is leading..What does that tell us?...Indecision can work either way: It delays our chances to be happy again because of that fear and many other factors associated with it, or it makes us buy time to carefully choose the ones we really like. And we wonder why we go through the same process all over again and again. Most of us will probably be here in FFF for the longest time ...I don't know about you, but taking the risks will give you better chances to reach our goals. FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN IS THE CULPRIT. Don't be a statistic!

life is all about taking chances...
looking at the result...more people don't wanna take a chance...
or maybe...just being careful yet...
to plunge or make decision bout the issue...
that is due to the hurt and pain one experienced

women are more emotional i guess...and its true...
once the man knew or felt that we are serious...
they tend to run away or back off...
but i'd like to add...not all men for that matter...
few of them wanted us for real

overall...we all deserve to be happy
so lets get lucky

You have a point there Cel, kaya nga, I tell my younger admirers upfront that I cannot give them children anymore. At my age, if I'll be a mother again, that child might grow side by side with my future apo...hehehehe...Ngeeekkk! I just wanna enjoy the rest of my life...Look young, feel young and act young...

I can relate to you here Cat. I am the only member of my family who did not have a complete family, and I thought I kinda disgraced my family just because I failed them miserably. And my son, when he was a lot younger wished to have a brother or a sister at least. But I did not plan my life this way, and now that I've come this far, I don't care about what people will say anymore..I entitled to be happy, regardless. But this is just me.
