Growing Old...( My time is nearing)

Just last night, I attended a post Thanksgiving Party with my friends in the neighborhood. We talked about people that we know of that have health issues. Some of them have cancers that already metastasized (spread) to the major body systems. They're just in their 50's or even younger. Some worked so hard to prepare for their retirement. Some are still married, others are divorced, and one is single. It dawned on me that my life isn't as bad at all. Being alone, and not perfectly healthy, but "happy" in my own ways, (only because, I make the most of what I have, and not fret about what I do not have...and that includes a very good companion in life), is just fine. These people are financially well-off, and yet, they are struggling with their health, whose lives are terminal. The thought of it truly makes me feel much blessed. It really pays not to compare yourself with what others have. For all you know, each one of has something that the others don't...Oh yeah, I am getting older, not necessarily wiser, but more appreciative of what my life is all about....Below are the wonderful quotes I "copied" from the net.:

"Age does not depend upon years, but upon temperament and health. Some men are born old, and some never grow so." - Tryon Edwards

"If wrinkles must be written upon our brows, let them not be written upon the heart. The spirit should never grow old." - James A. Garfield

"Growing old is no more than a bad habit which a busy man has no time to form." - André Maurois

"You know you're getting old when the candles cost more than the cake." - Bob Hope

"Time ripens all things; no man is born wise." - Miguel de Cervantes

"The old in the stable still wants to run." - Chinese Proverb

"No gray hairs streak my soul, no grandfatherly fondness there! I shake the world with the might of my voice, and walk - handsome, twenty-two year old." - Vladimir Mayakovsky

"For the soul there is never birth nor death. Nor, having once been, does he ever cease to be. He is unborn, eternal, ever-existing, undying and primeval. He is not slain when the body is slain." - Bhagavad-gita

Very true Elz, . Be content with what you have now and be happier when something more fulfilling comes tomorrow. You're still young though; there are more adventures to face maybe a better relationship to enjoy. Don't hesitate to take chances, it will show how strong you are. Don't be afraid to get burned, heat turns steel into a beautiful sword, it will mold you into a wiser woman.

I'm a senior citizen . Don't expect me to remember anything

i personally enjoy being enlightened by anyone older than me, or even younger than me. some people believe everything that their elders say, because they are supposed to be more knowledgeable. i usually believe everything they say and heed their warnings, because they should know better than I. their experiences shall match up to peoples' younger than them when their time comes. it's a never-ending cycle.just the thought of being around someone I learn from, listen to and converse with makes me feel like I must get out and learn as much as I can from them while I can. so that, maybe someday, i can give my knowledge and wisdom to someone before this life ends, of course, the only things that will stick with you for those years are the things that mean the most to you, things that are relevant to your beliefs and morals. i consider this life as a blessings inspite of the odds i am facing, i have great hope that i can still be a senior citizen....as with you, dont be afraid of the numbers, it doesnt show anyway, you are as gorgeous and graceful like any young ones here...

I know, I know, Jane...You're actually right..But I get bored, and when at home, I feel "needy" sometimes. That's why others think I am a unique kind of flirt...lolz...They think I am "seductive, but elusive" when pursued...toinkz... I am beginning to think that I maybe am a "teaser" but a coward one!

The place to be is where you'll both agree to be happy. It doesn't have to start there,it has to end there. You have everything going for you, don't feel like time is being wasted.
