Forget Me, Forget Me Not........

Some significant people are so hard to forget, whether they played a wonderful or horrific roles in our lives. One thing for sure, they belong to our past, and therefore, it's just but right NOT to expect them to be in our future...Move forward, not backward.

The last one was the hardest to give up, even the memories just kept lingering day by day, month by month, and year by year...But, finally!...One morning, I'm free!

I wanted to forget someone in my past. But she kept popping up. Now she's is my present. Hope it stays that way.

You're a good lady Elz, You're bound to be happier

While the love is not there anymore, it is hard to forget especially if they gave us many reasons not to forget them...happy memories?, wonderful ones(kids)? and unlikely circumstances as well, hayz!....but life has to move on, unless we do, we`ll never discover that something beautiful awaits us in the future , just a matter of one step at a time

That's is very true, Grace...If we keep holding on and comparing the past to the present, or even hoping that one day, the past will return...Then, it's like hoping that the world will stand still

my take is : life has a way of going in circles. well ideally,it would be a straight path forward––we'd always know where we were going, we'd always be able to move on and leave everything else behind. there would be nothing but the present and the future.but instead, sometimes, we find ourselves where we started.then when we try to move ahead, we end up taking a step back. we carry everything with us, the weight exhausting us until we want to collapse and give up.we forget things we try to remember. we remember things we'd rather forget. the most frightening thing about memory is that it leaves no choice. it has mastered an incomprehensible art of forgetting. it erases, it smudges, but sometimes or most of the time it fills in blank spaces with details that don't exist.but however we remember it––or choose to remember it––the past is the foundation that holds our lives in place. Without its support, we'd have nothing for guidance. we spend so much time focused on what lies ahead, when what has fallen behind is just as important. what defines us isn't where we're going, but where we've been. although there are places and people we will never see again, and although we move on and let them go, they remain a part of who we are.there are things that will never change, things we will carry along with us always.god bless...

Very well said, Barbie! ...And it all boils down on our ATTITUDE...The wanting to LOOK BACK, STAY STILL, MOVE ON, or OVER INDULGE in things and people way ahead of time. Selective memory can be developed. Trust me, I've learned what to remember (the good ones, of course), and successfully deleted what I hated and what hurt me the most..."mental blocking" is NOT for everyone, though. Who we are today is still the outcome of our choices...that, of either holding on, holding back, or moving forward. But, yeah, there are just those things and people who are like chewing gums stuck in our behind ---they're so hard to remove...

Freedom can be very costly, specially if we had to pay dearly for it (blood, sweat, and tears). I have loved, and lost twice, hated once. After that, I don't feel anything anymore except to "acknowledge" them both as a part of my life. No more, no less. It only shows that in this life, whether we like it or not...One day, we will all just be part of memories..either forgotten or remembered.
