In and Out of Touch.....

Had it been over a month already? I lost track, but I guess, my absence was just temporary. I've been out of the country to bond with my , and relatives in Dubai, and managed to squeeze a Mindanao trip to attend our High School Grand Reunion in Camiguin. It's not the best time of the year, being that all the places I visited offered a very warm (if not hot), and humid temperature. It was okay at first, because the excitement helped me deal with it, but when all that hype died down, I felt all the discomfort, and I just realized I am so "American" now, in terms of feeling at home. All the more, I felt sad that our country (RP) faces so much difficulty economically that more and more people are below the poverty line, no thanks to the continued graft and corruption that always prevail in our government (or am I wrong in claiming "our" ? ). I know, no matter what nationality we may embrace, we still remain Filipinos at and by heart. Over in Dubai, one maybe blinded by the luxury and extravance the country seems to project. No one hardly remembers that Abu Dhabi aids this known tourist destination in its attempt to survive economically. I was not fascinated much by Dubai's architecture and huge malls as well as the different infrastractures it presents. Maybe because I've been to different countries all over the world, my eyes aren't that hungry anymore that it didn't matter if I took pictures or not. I saw how multiracial workers try to survive there as well. Some are legal, and others illegal (TNT) I saw the sadness on their faces, being away from their loved ones. Those who are there to escape famine from their countries, the like of people from Bangladesh, Nairobi, and Kenya, work in the parking areas to wash or clean cars, or out there on the roads working under the blinding heat of the sun, receiving very humble amount of money to support themselves and their families. It just made my heart sank, feeling sorry for them. Everywhere I go, I see the contrasts, that of being rich and poor, of being powerful and oppressed, and many more. In order for one to enjoy his/her vacation is to have their eyes closed or be unmindful and apathetic...But that's life. Some Pinoys (TNT) are there to clean the apartments of those who have legal works. They thrive with the help of friends and relatives, but deep in their hearts, they are missing their loved ones back home....Ahhh! so much for that. I am just happy to be back home in my humble place in Texas. It's also hot here, alright, but, there's always no place like home...I can deal with everything here. And I'm back blogging...

I had a great time, Mark...However, the hot and humid, muggy weather kept me inside the house most of the time..I cannot stand being out in the heat for a long time...Take care!

Bestest Friend, it took 2 days for your post to appear...I think you should clear your history, and refresh each time you make comments...Neways, yeah, we have so much to thank for here in the US/ As a matter of fact, I don't even see myself retiring in the Philippines...How are you doing, by the way?

wohooooooo!!!...welcome back elz...

as for the issues you addressed in your blog, especially the poverty in our country, haaayyyyyssss!!!...i honestly dunno how to feel anymore...be thankful that i still eat 3x a day?...or be depressed 'coz each time i eat i get reminded that others can hardly eat a meal each day...any which way, we try to make the best of what life offers us...

This is ME...I don't need your approval...

Thanks, Liz...and for that reason, even though I am tight with my budget, I always see to it that I give tips, specially to those who need it more..and I also randomly give alms to street children, or give them food...It makes me feel lighter..and the reason why I sometimes gain weight, is because I always try to FINISH MY FOOD, thinking, a lot of people are starving..waaaahhhhh!
