It's Just Another New Year's Eve.....


IT'S JUST ANOTHER NEW YEAR'S EVE ---by Barry Manilow

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

...Last night, New Year's Eve, was just another evening for me. I stayed home, alone, had a simple dinner, made sure that the house was clean to welcome 2011. NO special preparations, I did not even wear my polka dot dress. NO wine, no plans at all. I just watched t.v. and waited for the New York Times Square's yearly dropping of the New Year's Ball, and when it did, I just sat there, I smiled when people started kissing and hugging everyone in front of the camera. Confettis filled the air, loud music being played. This is the first New Year's Eve in my adult life that I was nearly "emotion-less". I did not even do any rituals such as spreading coins inside and outside of my home, nor placing dollar bills in each purse that I have, NO round fruits displayed on the table, NO wearing polka dots dress, etc. I did not cry, and I did not even pray/wish for anything special. I believe, I've outgrown those rituals. Or maybe, I just got TIRED of asking...I just thanked God for this life and all His blessings...and I mumbled to myself..."Come, What May"....

 elz.. it's okay, you are not alone in not doing the usual new year rituals we do every year. what's important is you don't give up, year after year, as long as we and everyone we love are healthy and have enough to survive the bad times. it is always a cycle and what goes down must come up. let's be there when it comes up! take care.

 Elz,

In fact i was happy chatting w/ my cuz as usual. She even says here again w/o mates. Just the whole day preparation of buying and cooking. My sis did the turkey- me shanghai frying. So, was watching videos of past gf w/ Mathew McCoungnehy as ok. Then got my grapes, cheese and champaigne ready to toast in the New Year!!! Happy and thanking God. Unlike the sad christmas eve(yung movie). Anyways come what may...

Hon, I gave up on asking or praying for things, that way, I won't get disappointed nor frustrated. I take life now with a grain of salt each day of my life...No point having too much enthusiasm, coz more often than not, bubbles are burst(ed) even before they get to float in thin air..

Tess, it's funny coz I didn't realize in the past that it's a lot better NOT to expect for things that we pray or hope for, because this is the only way we can take things as they come...and do what needs to be done so that we can deal with the next thing to happen..It's a way of being NOT negative, and yet NOT expectant either..
