1. You can hire a nanny to take care of your kids; a cook; a housekeeper; a laundry lady; an all-around maid. All for a minimal fee.

2. Having someone else to do the menial work, you have more time to rest and pursue other activities that may lengthen your life. You can actually rest, during your day-off. And you have a day-off. You don't have to get a second job just to make ends meet.

3. There are atleast six modes of transportation, readily available at any time. The jeepney, the bus, the tricycle, the sidecar, the cab, and car.

4. You don't have to ride a subway everyday to go to work or get somewhere. I swear, all that underground travel, cooped up with other blank and/or mean-looking strangers, has got to have an effect on human beings' mental health.

5. Everything that is available in the US, all the first rate items and amenities, and the smallest tools and gadgets, they are all available in the Philippines. At a very low cost. But not everything that's available in the Philippines can be found in America. Not even in Asian stores.

6. School kids graduate from elementary at Grade 6. Then they start high school. In America, they will go through Grades 7 and 8, before they can start with High School.

7. College is way more affordable in the Philippines. Filipino parents usually pay for their kids' college, and can afford it. In America, college is incredibly expensive. There may be grants and financial aid, but realistically, most people who have the guts and determination to go thru college, will still have years and years to pay for their college education after graduation. It's not pretty.

8. There may be unpleasant people in the Phils., but you will only have to deal with fellow Filipinos, and you know how to interact with them.

In America, you will have to deal with unschooled people of different races, whose idea of feeling good about themselves is to put people of other races down, particularly Filipinos. You gotta deal with people of other races who treat their own kind nicely, then treat you like second class citizens. You gotta deal with your own kind who think they are better than you.

9. You can give a cash gift to traffic cops when u break a traffic rule. lolz

10. You only have to deal with rainy and sunny weather.

11. There are so many beautiful, smart, and sexy women in the Philippines. And there aren't much attractive and single guys. The attractive ones are usually playboys, taken, or gay. Many other guys are not attractive. Sorry.

This is an advantage for guys. Not for the ladies.

12. Children are basically raised to be respectful towards elders.

13. Families generally help each other.

14. Services are not expensive. Spas, salons, dermatologists, abound and are affordable. You can have a manicure for just PhP50 (around US$1.25).

15. Malls and moviehouses are first class. Most moviehouses in NY look like cinema hauses in Makati 20 yrs ago. The malls in NY won't hold a candle to Trinoma, Ayala, or SM malls in the Phils.

16. Philippine cellphones and their features rock!!! American cellphone limitations sak!!!

17. PhP2,000 worth of grocery items can go a long way. US$50 worth of groceries is just one bagful.

18. Living in the Philippines is a gentle existence. It may be financially tough at times, but it is a happy place to live in.

These are my opinions, ofcourse. To each his/her own opinions and experiences.

Sorry, I am so homesick. Hope you understand.

i agree & miss all these but i'd like to add that even if college is cheaper in the Philippines, it is difficult to get a job after you graduate.. in the USA, you can work with a living wage even if you only graduated from high school & you can take very short courses that can give you a good paying job.. yun lang ang dagdag ko, lady A..TC

brings back memories.

It's so true. I like the way you made a comparison with higher education in American and Phil. The situation is the same in the U.K. as U.S.A. That's why it discourages me to go ask more for govt funding so I try to pay for courses this next coming years myself when I can.

You can join my mom because she's very homesick.

I miss my relatives and other friends.

I have experienced the USA enough to get sick of it for ever. I may go and try the Philippines now. Everywhere is bread of two sides but it really depends on what we like or dislike. New York is the absolutely LAST place on the whole Earth I would like to live. Sorry Vi I could have challenged almost all your praises for America in the other blog but let's just conclude with a comparison:
What is better - a corrupt police officer who accepts a cash gift but is otherwise generally friendly or a terror minded retarded monkey in the top politics which caused already at least half million innocent deaths abroad, drained all previous surpluses to zero and caused the 'recession' (as mentioned in your latest blog)?

I agree. I'm looking forward to relocating to the phils with my honey as soon as I can afford to retire (I can't legally work in the Phils)

I can relate to 99 percent of what you say. Let me tell you a little story. While flying around the world, Issabel 04, stopped in 200 countries, and bought a cat. Imagine that, 200 cats. When she got back home, she let all of the cats out into her huge backyard. And she found out something that she did not know ! That all of the cats knew what they were, and realized that all of them were the same. CATS. Wow, what a concept. My point here is that when you describe people, using the term different races. I guarantee that you have never, and will never, meet anyone on this planet, that is of a different race than you or I. WE ARE HUMAN. That is our race. THE HUMAN RACE. We may have different ethnical compositions, and we may have been born in another part of the world, (nationality). We all have the same color blood, and we all have the same chemical structure. We may not all look the same, but like those cats, we are in fact the same. It's white people and scientists and government leaders, who pour that different race crap on us every day, hoping that we believe what they say, and pass it on. It's happened to millions upon millions of innocent people, and it will continue, no doubt, unless we as a people, stand up and shout that we don't want to hear that crap anymore. We are humans, and we like it that way. Pretty soon, the masses of people will start to let this concept soak in to their brains, and heart and soul. And one day, we will be able to look each person we meet, in theeye, and think, hey that person can't be all that bad, BECAUSE THAT PERSON IS JUST LIKE ME. A HUMAN. I can get along with that person, just like those cats did. Thank you. Thomas
