Memorial

This day marks the first apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1858 to fourteen-year-old Marie Bernade (Saint Bernadette) Soubirous. There were eighteen apparitions in all, the last of which was on 18 July 1858. the messages of Lourdes is a call to personal conversion, prayer, and charity. Pope Leo XIII approved this feast day and Pope Pius X extended it to the universal Church. Bernadette was beatified and canonized by Pope Pius XI in 1925.
