An Awakening

I suppose you don’t value me and the friendship I offer. I can’t force you to do so anyway. I can’t stop from feeling the way I do about you, but I now am more aware of the need to look out for myself too. I can’t let you just ride roughshod over me all the time. Enough is enough. So I will try to be more detached, to show that it doesn’t bother me whether we stay in touch or not. It’s going to be very hard. But if I want to keep from hurting myself, I have to do it.

I wish you well, and that you will be happy. I don’t regret having met and known you, and I never will. Voglio bene.
